Nice stay

Reviewed By glillym

-Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 2 nights recently in the Squirrel room in the Stuart House just up the road from the Bell . Whilst the room is really nicely decorated, cosy and very clean, it was absolutely tiny meaning it got very warm and there was no room for storing any bags. This was made more difficult by the many cushions on the bed which looked lovely but meant that a lot of floor space was taken up by storing the cushions. The bathroom was nice with shampoo/conditioner etc with a good shower. One improvement to the room we both said was that it would be nice if there were some bedside lamps as we either had to have the big lights on or nothing at all before bed. One great thing was the parking for Stuart house as I can imagine finding a space would have been really tricky. As we weren’t spending much time in the room anyway, the size didn’t bother us too much but if we stay here again I would definitely book a bigger room as it was a struggle getting around.

Poor communication from property

Reviewed By stevendV6101IG

Booked well in advance and we were informed by email that the 3 access codes would be sent 24 hours before arrival as these were required to access the front door, room and bathroom. This did not happen. I tried to contact the customer service desk number provided by the property to no avail. Thank goodness that Booking.com had a fantastic customer service and they provided the information needed. We were not the only people to have This problem as another couple were sat outside the front door when we returned on the second afternoon of our stay they were also tring to contact the property owners. The information given by the property also stated that you were required to hang a card on the door handle if you wanted the room made up, this was also ignored. This review is not all negative the property is very well situated and our Room was very nice, both comfortable and very clean, some very nice extras were provided as well. If these issues were addressed then the review would have been much better.

Disappointing service

Reviewed By Paps440

We stayed in the hotel as part of our minimoon. We paid on arrival and shown up to our room. We did feel the decor of our room felt a little tired - crumbly paint in the bathroom and paper hanging from the ceiling. Unfortunately there was an issue with our sink in our bedroom - leaking from beneath and showers your feet with dirty water on each use. When I reported this to the bar after our first evening - the response from the lady serving was simply ‘it’s not life threatening’. It seems room 7 is infamous for this issue and it’s been like it for quite a while. On our next evening my husband had to go and request new towels as they had all been cleared as they were daily (is this always necessary?) and not replenished. No apology was made and we were given two bath mats for hand towels. We really felt disappointed on the service we had received for our superior room booking.
