Pfarrkirche Traunkirchen

One of the identifying parts of Traunkirchen's skyline, this beautiful church is impressive from the outside as well as inside. Perched right beside the lake, it makes for wonderful photographs. It's in a beautiful setting, surrounded by a nice park, and inside has a great courtyard.
One of the main attractions if visiting Traunkirchen.

Johannesbergkapelle

Reviewed By Dan M - Tel Aviv, Israel

The pictures of this church (Kapelle) are famous on the net.
Whenever your surf on the net and look for Traunsee lake you'll see this landmark.
So it was natural that after Gmunden and our visit at Schloss Ort we'd stop there to see it and take some pictures.
Actually we were lucky because there was a fair, some kind of happening with artisans selling their masterpieces.
We also had a coffee at the Cafe Johannesberg.
Altogetther it was a very nice site to visit on our way to Ebensee and Bad Ischl...

Kleiner Sonnstein

Went up their several times. Steep hike through dense forest. 450 m on top of the lake in a short time possible. Absolutely stunning views over the lake. If you like a challenge you can try to run it up. Depending on condition it is doable in 30 ( run) -60 minutes ( walk). Last 50 min involves using your hands for some climbs, but no equipment needed. But a must see as only from the very end ( cross) you get the best views. If you did not have enough, continue on Grosser Sonnstein, a second summit about another 45 min away, less steep but can be slippery.

Relaxing at any time of day. One of the very view wide, public ‘beaches’ to sunbath and swim. People from far away come her on hot days. Playground, cool drinks, ice-cream and beachfood. Fritz and Marion are very friendly hosts!
Great after visiting Traunkirchen or to cool down after a hike up on Sonnstein, the steep rock behind Traunkirchen Ort.

Maria Kroenung Church

Reviewed By Dan M - Tel Aviv, Israel

Traunsee is a beautiful lake.
You'll probably drive around it on your way to Gmunden (or from it).
You then will stop at Traunkirchen because the place is beautiful and has another landmark, the Johannesbergkapelle at the top of the hill which is also beautiful to see and of course to take pictures of.

And adjoining the square is this church, The Maria Kronung ...
You can stop there and enjoy the break.
