The Epping Ongar Railway is a volunteer run heritage railway which operates steam and diesel hauled trains through 5.5 miles of picturesque rolling countryside and through Epping Forest, along the former London Underground Central Line. We run a variety of special events through the year, including Peppa Pig, 1940's, Halloween Ghost Trains, Santa and Mince Pie Specials. Remarkable old timbers make this church very special. Although changed over the centuries part is probably the oldest wooden church in the world and a few years back it appeared on the British postage stamps. The location is peaceful and rural. Rather appropriately it also has some beautiful modern wood work in the form of the font designed by Sir Hugh Casson. There is lots of interesting history associated with the building.

Had a lovely lunch, food was great and the staff are very friendly. This is a lovely pub with a very well kept garden and relaxed atmosphere. We would highly recommend everything. We will certainly go back again.
