The rugged beauty of the island is worth to see. We made a cruise to Maakalla on Galeas Ansio from Rahja's harbour. Maakalla's speciality is that it has autonomy and is governed by local fishermen.

Galeas Ansio

Reviewed By FinTravelCat - Helsinki

We made a sea cruise on Galeas Ansio to the isle of Maakalla from Rahja's harbour. It took 1:45 to cruise to Maakalla and then we had an hour time to look around the small island and its harbour and village. Cruise back took about an hour. It was a great opportunity to get aquainted to the rugged beauty of the coastline. Around 35 guests participated. Fish soup and coffee was served and included to the fare. Local fishermen sold freshly smoked whitefish on Maakalla.

If you've been to water parks in Southern Europe or USA you'll find this quite average, but for the short summer season in Finland it's better than nothing.
Some of the facilities are a bit dated and could be in better condition - but I expect with that short season there isn't a lot of spare cash for improvements.
