Cangnan County (Chinese: 苍南县; pinyin: Cāngnán Xiàn Pronunciation of "Cangnan" (help·info)) is a county in the prefecture-level city of Wenzhou in southern Zhejiang. The county government is in Lingxi. Cangnan has 20 towns, 14 townships, and 2 nationality townships. The predominant Chinese dialect spoken in Cangnan is Zhenan Min, but other dialects, such as Wenzhou dialect and Jinxiang dialect, are also spoken.

I ended up coming to Yuliao, seeing the ticket booths, thinking "what, you actually need to buy a ticket to go to the beach?", and going a mile or so back, to Wucheng Village (雾城村). Wucheng is at the next bay to the north; pretty nice beach, and quite scenic too, and much more low-key. Wucheng's main street is all hotels (as is Yuliao's), and the rates (in October) were fairly reasonable; I paid 100 yuan for a very nice room. The rate must be quite a bit higher in the summer, I reckon.
There are some restaurants in the area (both at Yuliao and Wucheng), mostly of the seafood kind. No good grocery store or farmer's market that I could see.
