Narnala Fort

Reviewed By vivek_salame - Mumbai, India

Narnala Fort is example of one of the most beautiful architectures in history!! The gates there are carved out so beautifully and are still intact till date. Narnala Fort comes under Melghat tiger reserve, so it is well protected and to visit this fort you have to do prior booking which can be done on the spot also. You have to visit it using a gypsy/own vehicle but one guide is compulsory and you have to pay some fees to visit it. It is 3-4 hrs tour. We paid 1000(gypsy) + 700(guide). Cherry on the cake is- as it fall under tiger reserve, there is quite a good chance u will spot a tiger.. we saw leopard & barking deer on our way!! As the fort is situated in Satpuda Ranges u can see beautiful scenic views of mountains and valleys!! Carry a binocular to see ruins of abandoned villages around ( mostly Guides carry binoculars). History of the fort - Fort is established by The Gond Kings in 10th century. Then Mughala invaded it in 14th century and ruled till 17th century. Then Marathas invaded it in 18th century till the British came in 19th century.
