A great place to go at any time of year. As well as an interesting house there is extensive woodland, excellent river walks, beautiful formal gardens plus you can watch wildlife (often including red squirrels) from a comfortable hide.

The zoo is a great place to enjoy a few hours looking at all the animals very friendly staff and some interesting animals well worth a visit good day out.

Whitehouse Farm Centre

The visitor centre is extensive, housing a wide variety of animals from traditional farm breeds to small animals, pets and exotic species. We had a great day. Even with the changes due to covid and the Gayle force winds ???? the day was brilliant. So much to do and see. Great fun for all ages ( even ya adults enjoyed the park haha!) Can’t wait to re visit again in the summer

Druridge Bay Country Park

Great place to walk with lots wildlife and birds to see.The lake has a nature reserve area and different routes to take,some lead in and around the lake and others lead to sand dunes and the beach.Lots of parking which is free through winter.There is a large building with a cafe, toilets and tourist information area(closed at moment for refurbishment).There is a kids play park at the side of this building and through the summer season,there is canoes,surfing hire etc.The beach is flat,great sand and clean.All areas are dog friendly but some areas dogs have to be on leads

Carlisle Park

The park was opposite our accommodation so went for a walk. What a beautiful park the gardens are stunning. Theres something for everyone children's play area tennis courts bowling green and paddling pool area. The riverside walk is lovely would definitely recommend visiting.
