Aspendos Ruins and Theater

The best-known attraction among the ruins of Aspendos is the great theater, an amazingly well preserved vestige of Roman architecture that may be as impressive as Rome's own Colosseum.

We have visited various historical sites in the Antalya region and can say that the Aspendos amphitheater is the best preserved. This is a wonderful place for cultural enlightenment and walking through the archaeological monuments of the ancient city. I note that most of the city and its facilities are located on a hill, where not everyone goes. If you have baby strollers, then unfortunately you couldn't go to the aqueduct, you should take a baby stretcher.

We had been lucky enough to see a sample of the show at a hotel in antalya a couple of years back. And the full show is really well worth going to. For our money the review that complained about the arena has it wrong. It is not The O2 but perfectly adequate. And show tickets can be had for not much more than £20 (the O2 want £75 for the show their Feb 2019) - with travel on top. We found the first half a bit slow to get going but it had a very good finish. The end was also a bit slow at the beginning but wow did it build to a great level. The drumming sequence was (I thought) superb. The skill and athleticism of the dancers is amazing. A Turkish version of Riverdance seems a great description to me. A great night out. See it in UK or wherever would be my recommendation.

One of the best preserved theater's in the world. So much of history to see, learn and experience. There is hike behind the theater which will take you to the top of the hill from where you can get the aerial view of the theater which simply amazing. There are some awesome picture points as well. Better to get a guide inside the theater to understand more about the theater and the history behind it .
