Barragem do Alqueva

largest lake in Europe built by humans. Very nice for sightwalkings and birdwatching. Lovely area to spent some days visiting the surroundings and old villages nearby. In the middle of Alentejo where you can find the best wines from Portugal

Castelo de Moura

When you get up to the castle property, make sure to go to the tourist office. The people there can get someone to go with you up into the castle tower to see the arms museum. It is located in the base of the tower. The tower ceiling is unique. I have never seen one like it. Then, you can climb the circular staircase to the top of the tower to stand on top of the roof. The views are truly awesome. It is a long way up, but worth it.
