We got an excellent overview about the history of Jamestown and the current situation of the fishing harbour. Our tour guide Mr. Cosmos was very enthusiastic and precise and had a clear understanding of what we were looking for! Looking forward to the next tour soon!

2. Visit of Porto Novo: the Capital of Benin

Crossroads of two cultures: that of the Yoruba on the one hand, and the Gouns on the other, Porto-novo is a must-see city, not because of its status as Capital, but because of its historical and cultural significance. Its name evoking a Portuguese city is not Andean, since the city was formerly a colony of the country. Witness its buildings with Afro-Brazilian architectures. It is also called the city with three names, since in addition to Porto-Novo, is it also known by the names Hognonou and Adjathè, respectively Goun and Yoruba. Three, it is also the number of essential museums in the city: the Honm museum which is the former palace of the kings of Hogbonou, the da Silva museum created by an Afro-Brazilian family, and the ethnographic museum which offers you collections of the Regional Center of the French Institute of Black Africa (IFAN).
