Formerly the Birmingham Railway Museum, this location is now a commercial enterprise called Tyseley Locomotive Works. This working steam railway yard is open to the public on specific open days and will thrill railroad buffs with its excellent collection of locomotives including the GWR "Castle" class, an LMS "Jubilee" class engine and three GWR Pannier tank locomotives.TLW is also the home to Vintage Trains steam excusrions and The Shakespeare Express. Vintage Trains run steam-hauled day excursions throughout the year, utilising it's own and guest steam locomotives. The Shakespeare Express (seperate trip-advisor) runs a scheduled steam hauled service from Birmingham to Stratford and return twice every summer Sunday.

We booked premium dining seats for the day trip to Bath ( for the Christmas Market) joining at Warwick Parkway. It was a superb day out. The standard of of food and Pullman Class service for both breakfast and dinner was excellent and leisurely such that passengers really enjoyed the experience. Not cheap but as a special experience we felt it was good value for money and would do it again. Loco 7029 Clun Castle was immaculately turned out and arrived at Bath bang on time - having run reasonably flat out between Didcot and Chippenham. Also bang on time coming back. Can really recommend it as a special experience which remains long in the memory.
