Wayward Distillery

Wayward Distillery is a True Craft distillery located in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. Balancing tradition with creativity, Wayward is the first distillery in Canada using honey as the base for all of its spirits. With this as a curious starting point, the only obvious direction to take is an unpredictable one. Our signature Unruly Vodka and Unruly Gin are beautiful, hand-crafted examples of what can happen when unruly people meet unruly bees. Couple this with our seasonally changing, ultra-small batch experimental Wayward Order Line and you will truly understand our need to break moulds and blaze trails. Welcome to our Wayward life. Welcome to Wayward Distillery.

Beaufort Vineyard & Estate Winery

In September 2019, Beaufort became the first organically certified vineyard on Vancouver Island. Winemaker Freya Timmermans crafts the vintage in small batches for a unique expression of our Island’s cool coastal climate. Expect youthful, fruit-driven reds, and lively, aromatic whites. Please see website, call, or email ahead for up-to-date info on store hours and tastings in 2020.

Walked through the beautiful gardens full of lavender to the tasting room where we were greeted very warmly. There is a selection of 5 of the approximately 12 wines that are produced here that are one at any one time for tasting. On our visit, it was 3 whites and 2 reds. The staff member who helped us with the tasting (sorry didn't get a name) was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. Although the wines are not inexpensive, they are delicious. We particularly appreciated the Petite Milo - which is a grape especially bred for Vancouver Island. There is a nice picnic area on the deck, so one could quite happily bring lunch and buy a nice bottle to go with it.
