This market has fantastic organic foods and local crafts and two great used book stalls. It draws an amazing group of people and has to be one of the most exciting events in Colombo. Be sure to visit The Brown Bean Coffee lorry which makes absolutely amazing drinks that are also the most reasonable in Sri Lanka and using only the finest ingredients. They have a table where there is always an exciting conversation going on.

Main Fish Market

Reviewed By danks44 - Shoalhaven, Australia

The Negombo Fish Markets are more than just a place that sells fish. This is where the fishing catch is unloaded, scaled, cut up and then dried out. There is fish as far as the eye can see. This whole process is messy, it smells, but is so unusual. The area of the fishing vessels stretches for a long way and it is an amazing experience to wander around. A must see in Negombo.

Pettah

Shoppers will find plenty of bargains in this area of street merchants.

An amazing place, everything you could possibly need to buy is available in this market, a brilliant few hours spent exploring on foot. The range of fruits and vegetables available was awesome. We saw piles of Wood apples which smell like blue cheese, but taste like sour tamarind pulp. if you are brave enough sample them - Made into a wood apple fruit shake, they can be excellent.

5. Kollupitiya Super Market
