The 5 Best Castles in London, England

April 26, 2022 Timmy Ribble

The crown jewels, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market…in London, history collides with art, fashion, food, and good British ale. A perfect day is different for everyone: culture aficionados shouldn't miss the Tate Modern and the Royal Opera House. If you love fashion, Oxford Street has shopping galore. For foodies, cream tea at Harrod’s or crispy fish from a proper chippy offers classic London flavor. Music and book buffs will love seeing Abbey Road and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street, of course).

The view down to Central London from the top of the tower is fantastic, and the woods are beautiful for a walk, if your able to you can park in Welling Way and walk up to the castle through the trees, just keep going up hill and you should eventually find it. We had a hilarious time there , even though they ran out of cakes due to it being so popular that day.

Visited this small but perfectly laid out exhibition of some of Princess Diana’s most famous dresses...’Diana Her Fashion Story’, including the dress Diana wore when she danced with John Travolta! The dresses are on ‘invisible manikins’ and are often displayed with a photograph of Diana wearing the item. It’s wonderful to see these dresses close up and admire the detail and skill that obviously went into making them, as well as the transition of styles through the years. Kensington Palace, in beautiful Kensington Gardens is easy to get to, just a 10 minute walk from High Street Kensington underground station. There are other interesting exhibitions to see in Kensington Palace at the same time, you’re entry ticket gives you admission to the King’s & Queen’s state apartments ( King George II & Queen Caroline and William III & Mary II), as well as a lovely exhibition about Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, including some spectacular tiara’s! Well worth 2-3 hours visiting the palace, as well as visiting Kensington Gardens, the palace café and shop.
