Mid morning we started out and heard music from the church. An organist and trumpet player were rehearsing for a concert in 2 days and we were able to hear bits of a Bach concerto that sent our hearts soaring. The women who manned the gift area were really helpful and the church was quite well kept and full of presence. We count it as one of the little 'presents' we were given on this trip to have dropped in here.

Speelpark Oud Valkeveen ligt in een prachtig, bosrijk natuurgebied tussen Huizen en Naarden. Al c.a. 95 jaar is het een paradijs voor kinderen die van ‘gewoon lekker spelen’ houden. Het park heeft een grote speelweide, een theater, een eigen strand aan het Gooimeer en voor de volwassenen voldoende plekken om te genieten van de zon en de natuur. Zelfs bij minder mooi weer, kun je hier heerlijk spelen in een van onze overdekte attracties. Daarnaast beschikken we over een prachtige indoor speelhal van 1500 m2 en een echte bioscoop waar leuke kinderfilms en series draaien.

Very well maintained fortress with a village inside close to the Gooimeer / Markermeer in the East of Amsterdam. You cannot miss it coming the motorway from Amersfoort. A good place to go and stroll for a saturday or sunday afternoon; nice and authentic places to have a bite or a drink, or both. Highly recommendable due to its completely restored infrastructure.

All kinds of displays telling the story of the various fortififications of the Netherlands built into part of the fortiffication of Naarden itself. Great fun for young and old. The program varies throug the year, so check up front what to expect.
