Max Patch

Max Patch is about a 40 minute drive from Hot Springs, half of that traveled on a gravel road. We did the loop hike and it was an easy hike with an awesome view at the top. Would love to see the sunrise or sunset. You can camp overnight at the top.

Lovers Leap Loop Trail

Reviewed By 122tinar

We hiked Lovers Leap including the Pump Gap Loop while staying in Hot Springs for the week. The trailhead is steps from town right across the French Broad River. There are beautiful views and nice photo ops from the outcrop overlooking town. The Pump Gap Loop was challenging as the entire hike took us about 3 hours and we did it in counterclockwise fashion. The ridge line offers nice views. The trail is steep and rocky on the return. I would definitely recommend Lovers Leap to all visiting the area and the additional Pump Gap for an extra challenge, but maybe not for small children.

Laurel River Trail

Reviewed By W3867VBlauras - Murfreesboro, United States

My husband, my pup and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. In late October we found the trail absolutely beautiful. Almost flat, it runs along the river through private property (so stay on the allowed access trail) for about a mile before entering the Pisgah National Forest. There are plenty of spots to step down off the trail and access the river for a picnic.
