Smoky Mountain Diner

It was snowing and we really wanted some soup for lunch. Smoky Mountain Diner fixed us right up with a bowl of homemade cream of vegetable soup, although it wasn't on the menu. Served with warm cornbread, it really hit the spot. My husband added cherry cobbler for dessert. Total bill was under $9.00!

The Iron Horse Restaurant and Tavern

Reviewed By Mark G - Dalton, Georgia, United States

Just down from our campground was the Iron Horse Station Restaurant. It was Thursday night and the special was the 10oz Prime Rib.

The atmosphere was nice. The waitress was attentive and answered our questions patiently.

The Prime Rib was ordered medium rare but arrived medium well. I wasn't upset at this because usually Prime Rib is prepared medium rare and in heating it back up, it cooks some more, so I didn't complain. Came with a Baked Sweet Potato and a salad. My wife and I shared this meal

All in all, for a it was a good experience and I felt the price was commensurate with what I received.

NOW.... the tavern upstairs is a better value than staying over at the Hot Springs Spa and Resort and was, in fact, about half the price on the weekdays, or roughly $90. Rooms looked good. There are about 14 of them upstairs from the Restaurant. The tavern part has a separate entrance from the restaurant for after hours, but there is no overnight attendant.

We were enjoying a drive along NC Scenic Byway #209 when we came upon a colorfully fall decorated cafe and general store! We sat outside on the patio overlooking a lovely stream and enjoyed a tasty southern lunch of pinto beans, cole slaw and sweet tea! I’m so glad we stopped. Look for the sign with the Trust general store sign with their pickup truck logo.

We stopped for lunch at Dave's 209 after an invigorating morning at Max Patch. My husband and I both had combos which included a burger, fries, and a drink for less than $9.00 each.
Our burgers were very good, as were the fries. The restaurant is casual and is housed in an old school building. We' ll go again the next time we are in the area.

My boyfriend and I had stopped into town for a weekend. We'd been to Hot Springs before, but had never been to Take-Out. I actually saw the recommendation in a guest/comment book left in the house we were staying in. The food was amazing! Made fresh, right as I ordered it. So delicious. They were kind enough to pack it up for me to go. Amazing food! I'll always stop there when in town.
