Priory Ruins

Amazing to see the ruins left behind and follow in the steps of the monks of old! Lots of big free standing wall remnants from the original structures with plaques dotted around with information and pictures reimagining how it would have looked before along with a model of the whole site. Well worth a visit especially as it's free to enter! Was the highlight of our trip to Lewes ❤️

Tide Mills

Reviewed By Steve_of_N21 - London, United Kingdom

Sadly there’s really not much left of the original mill and village buildings to actually look at, but there are plenty of information plaques to give you a feeling of what it was once like and how the mill building itself used to work. But even so it’s a very nice nature reserve with a varied collection of bird species visiting and is a good spot to have a stroll. There is a sizeable car park on the A259 and then there are a few parking places at the end of the Mill Drove path before you get to the Tide mills. But it’s not far to walk from the main car park and saves the hassle of traversing the narrow lane. On a fine weather day its worth turning left when you get to the shore path and following it along towards Seaford to the Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club, where some fine tea and home make cake can be had.

Built in the 14th century this is an amazing site. Be careful of the traffic which is close by. Almost perfectly preserved.

Martello Tower

Reviewed By sp4rklet - Rye, United Kingdom

The martello tower is iconic for the people of Rye Harbour. It's the local sledging slope at the first sign of snow!! Most Rye Harbour kids, including myself, have been on the roof many times by climbing down the outer wall and up the rope hanging from the door (no longer there!), leading to the staircase inside. Who cares how it looks, it's looks, this is Rye Harbour after all!!
