This is a fantastic trek in the Cordillera Real in a region of lakes and peaks known as Condoriri, or the place of the condor in Aymara. This region is frequented by climbers who take advantage of a single scenic lakeside base camp that affords accessibility to multiple peaks. Our trek will take us up the Condoriri valley past several pristine lakes and then up a beautiful trekking peak known as Pico Austria (5350 meters), with views of multiple glaciated peaks all the while. From the summit, we will have views of Lake Titicaca, the highlands, and the entire Condoriri region.

If you are debating between the 2 and 3 day options, we definitely recommend the 3 day. After lunch at base camp on the first day, Juan prepped us to go do some mountaineering training, teaching us several different methods of walking with crampons before setting up a top rope so we could practice ice climbing. After returning to camp, we had dinner, breakfast, and lunch before heading to high camp. Once there, after dinner, we turned in early because we had to get up at midnight for the ascent. Although it was snowing sideways when we started, we had full confidence in Juan's ability to navigate. After a couple hours of climbing, the snow subsided as we got above the clouds and we began to see the nearly full moon, lights of La Paz, and views of the peaks. Shortly after this we got to the first vertical slope and began the altitude really made it's presence known. We tried to continue up to see the sunrise as high as possible, but the altitude made breathing too difficult (for 1 of our party????), slowing the pace and making the cold hard on the others. So... At 5,780 msal, we turned around. This is still the highest we have ever been and we were amazed with the experience. We do recommend diamox and time acclimating in La Paz or similar if you are planning the trip and new to mountaineering. Of the 4 people in our group, the one who didn't take diamox had the most severe altitude reactions.

We had no idea what to expect when Roberto took us on a sunset tour of the salt flats but it was beyond anything I have ever experienced. The vastness, the quiet, the sunset, it was like being on a different planet. Absolutely speechless. Roberto was a great guide and kept the fun up after dark with lights and cameras. Must be the highlight of my South America trip.

Easiest 6088 Summit. huayna potosi is technically easy to climb. beginner can do with good acclimatization. magnificent view from the summit. 3 day tour includes an afternoon of instruction and practice in basic mountainneering techniques and ice climbing on the first day at Glacier 4900m. and a nigth at the base camp to help with acclimatizing. the second day includes the ascent to high camp and thirt day the summit attempt and return to La Paz City.

Amazing city tour! Definitely a must! I did the "free" (they can't legally do free, but it's super cheap/basically free) walking tour of La Paz. My guide, Christian was very knowledgeable and friendly. He did an amazing job of introducing me to La Paz and it's history and culture. Got to see and learn about all the main sites of the city and he explained each one with stories as well and answered all my questions. Additionally, I felt very safe as they took all the necessary covid precautions. If you are in the city, definitely take this tour! I wish I had time to do some more of their tours...

I have been at Sacha Runa for the last 2 months of a 3 month retreat. My journey started in the jungle retreat in Rurrenbaue (Ayahuasca ceremonies). Then to Allkamari (Ayahuasca & San Pedro ceremonies, Sun/Moon dance, sweat lodges and Island of the Sun, Sun temple pilgrimage) and now back to the Jungle retreat My motivation for coming to Sacha Runa was to continue healing deeply (which the plant medicines enable me to do and quicker than any other healing modality I have experienced). My time at Sacha Runa has enabled me to do this to a level I have not experienced before. I have had to face many challenges. Some that have literality brought me to my knees. Before coming to Sacha Runa I had attended around 40 Ayahuasca ceremonies with 6-7 different Sharman. During my time at Sacha Runa I have attended 18 ayahuasca ceremonies and 4 San Pedro ceremonies. I have found all these ceremonies to be very respectful towards the medicines and attendees. I have not personally experienced anything during the ceremonies that has given me any reason to feel concerned. While I have experienced immense healing during my time at Sacha Runa, to provide a balanced view, there have been some admin things that I have found frustrating eg: the water (which has now been resolved). Every time I have raised a concern it has been addressed. In regards to the unfortunate accident, when the accident occurred, it was made clear to us that the jungle retreat had finished and we were in our own time. We had 3-4 days before heading to the mountains to do what we wanted to do. I personally, in no way blame the management of Sacha Runs and don’t believe anything could of been done to prevent the accident. My heart goes out to her family. The blend of the jungle and mountains is magical. Both environments offer different energy and beauty. If you are looking for deep healing in a supportive environment, I can recommend Sacha Runa.
