An escorted group holiday to Valencia included a morning in Manises, which was a highlight of the holiday with its streets of houses decorated with ceramic tiles. We were welcomed at the tourist info and taken on a walk around the town including the museum and demonstration of how the ceramics are made by hand. Our guide was very interesting and informative and took note of how we wanted to spend our time to make the most of the visit. We were introduced by name to everyone we met and it was clearly a friendly community with people greeting our guide on the street as we walked around. It was a shame we couldn't stay longer and I would like to return to look in the shops and have a meal. I would recommend Manises if you would like to visit a small traditional community in contrast to the commercial tourism of Valencia.
