We visit Chingford every year and never tire of taking a walk through Epping Forest. There are scores of pathways, frequent meadows and interesting historical locations, including a commemorative plaque to T.E. Lawrence. There is a cute little pond where you can find ducks. There is also a famous boy scout camp on the edge.

Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum

We are a small volunteer-run museum, housed in a Victorian sewage-pumping station. Displays relate to the history of transport and industry in Walthamstow and the surrounding area, and to the history of the Pumphouse site. We have two Marshall & Co horizontal steam engines dating from 1896 which are thought to be the only remaining mirrored pair in existence. They are run on compressed air on the last Sunday of the month. We are open on Sundays, 11am-4pm in summer and 11am-3pm in winter, and entry is FREE.

From arrival we instantly felt welcome and comfortable, the team wasnt phased by my very very excited 6 year old, nor my elder more reserved son.The are a very knowledgeable team who introduced each animal, giving lots of detail.A very talkative parrot just loved to interrupt which my son found hilarious ( in fact we all did????). Holding each animal there was no rushing, the team said just let me know when you would like the animal to go back to its home????. We had the isolation package- which is at such a great price for such an amazing experience... A lot of animals have free roam which was amazing????. I truly believe every child MUST go and visit!! And while the isolation package is on it's the perfect time! The staff were absolutely amazing with my sen son, we often struggle to find places where he feels comfortable and often have to leave after 5 minutes but he really enjoyed himself which was great to see????????.... Such an amazing experience. Honestly cant thank you enough GTA xxxx

The Gallery is housed in the Grade II* listed building that was Morris's family home from 1848 to 1856.The William Morris Gallery reopened in August 2012 following a major redevelopment and won the Art Fund Prize for Museum of the Year 2013. William Morris Gallery is open Wednesday-Sunday 10am-5pm. Free entry.

Housed in William Morris's home from 1848 - 1856, this is a 'must see' for anyone interested in William Morris and/or the Arts & Crafts movement. The exhibitions tell the story of William Morris, his philisophy and his designs through a wide range of historic furniture, designs, textiles, books, stained glass and photographs, with many examples by other artists and designers working with Morris and in the Arts & Crafts style. There is also a display of work by Sir Frank Brangwyn, a student of Morris's and, at the current time, two temporary exhibitions, one of the work of three contemporary designers based in the local Blackhorse Workshop and one on propaganda posters and other materials from China in the 1960's and '70's which are fascinating. The Museum backs onto the Lloyd Park which is enjoyable to explore and from which you can appreciate how well the modern wing with the excellent cafe and gallery space, blends in with the original building.
