Exhilarating moments of fun and beauty. Seeing the sea eagles and fjords was magical. The driver/guide was great. I greatly appreciated the additional outer layer of clothing, mittens, and goggles, and tea and ginger cookies! Dress warmly! You'll have some great memories and photos.

We visited Lofoten in December and we were so lucky to be able to do some snowshoes trekking around Svolvaer. Despite the short daylight time, we were still able to make it to the top of the hill and caught some beautiful scenaries. The tour...MoreWonderful to hear that your snowshoe trip did meet your expections. You are most welcome back for another adventure - maybe during summer? :) And thanks a lot for the feedback!

Wow...this little city punches well above its weight in innovative historic displays/museums. The small war museum is packed with military treasures from the world wars and is worth a visit. So to is the recreated fishing village found across the bridge on the little island in the harbour ( see attached photos). I learned a lot about how stockfish ( dried cod) has been and is the main industry that has made Norway what it is.

Trollfjord Cruise

Welcome to Trollfjord Cruise. We will take you on an amazing eagle safari to the world famous Trollfjorden for a 3-hour trip for 700 NOK per person. Please contact us if you have a group (minimum 10 pax) I`m sorry but we can`t take any individual requests anymore and are not connected to the little house on the square with the same name. From now on we only handle group bookings.

We had a very pleasant sail into the Trollfjord from Svolvaer, Norway. We were part of a group on a fishing boat from a cruise to this area. The trip was fine although we were a bit crowded due to the size of our tour group.
The distance from Svolvaer to the Trollfjord is quite long. The actual scenic part of the fjord is the last 30 minutes of a 2+ hour sail each way from Svolvaer. Round trip is almost 5 hours.
There were whitetail eagles that flew over our boat. Apparently that is fairly common.

Lofoten Lights

Welcome to Lofoten Lights. We’d like to help you share in our passion for this incredible show wich nature offers us. We’ll help you explore the history and culture of this amazing archipelago. We want you feel the excitement of the lights , as their thousands of everchanging colours draw your gaze heavenwards. All year round, we offer services of highest quality. Our desire is to make our “travelling friends” find themselves completely at their ease with the strong arctic nature of Lofoten, independent of who they are, or what they are doing. We can try with only words, even if they’ll never be enough, to describe what our eyes see every day…but we want, above all, even if only for a day, that YOUR eyes photograph this amazing land…and whatever type of excursion you do, we are sure that you will remember it forever. Lofoten Lights & Nature is a small tour operator which, trough its long experience, wants to make your holidays in Lofoten unforgettable.

We booked a "Winter Full day Guided Tour" well in advance and expected to be on a minibus with a few others. By chance we were on our own and Claudio gave us a wonderful tour of the Lofoten Islands. We visited places well of the usual routes and saw lovely landscapes, villages and fishing ports. He was so well informed and chatted to us all day. The weather was not very kind to us, but we made the best of it and nothing was too much trouble. Strongly recommend this tour if you want to know more about the Islands and take photographs.

Magic Ice

Magic Ice, in Svolvær – the capital of Lofoten, offers you the pleasure of browsing ice art and coastal culture while enjoying a variety of refreshments. Sculptures and installations made of ice, dramatically lit and presented together with sound, music and images, tell the story of nature, traditions and the life of the fisherman in this abundant island realm. Magic Ice has an atmosphere that has to be experienced from the inside! It is more than just an “ice bar”, it is a crystal clear reflection of a distinctive community built on the riches of the sea – in the heart of the landscape where it all came to be.

Tjeldbergtind

Reviewed By GlobeTrotters4001 - Brisbane, Australia

Thinking that Floya would be too much of a challenge, we chose to hike up Tjeldbergtind. It's classed a 1/4 but that's for Norwegians and their families who do this on a regular basis. If you're just an average walker/hiker, you would have no problems with this hike, but it can be a little uninspiring in the initial part of the hike.
Make sure it's the second left once you pass the Esso. Do not go to the end of the bitumen road. But you need to walk up between some houses and to your right is a sign showing Kjeldbergtind.
The first part of the road is I think a private access road to the pistol club and then just where the road continues up the hill to the radio mast turn right and the hike to Tjeldbergtind is signposted.
For the Norwegians this hike is a walk in the park. I think I am of moderate fitness and the walk took me hour to hike up and forty-five minutes to get down and that was going to the very end and looking down to Svolvaer and Kabelvåg. It is a steep rocky climb and muddy in parts but once at the top glorious views.
