Prior to our first visit to Smithfield, I was searching the internet and came across Blue Sky Distillery. So once we got in town, we decided to look them up. Somewhat hidden in an industrial area is the amazing Blue sky Distillery. With 5 amazing spirits !! We met Kim who offered up tastings and described the distilling process as well as the local sourced ingredients. I loved the Flying Dragon spiced rum, the Triple Duece Whiskey is so smooth its incredible, true sipping whiskey. Blackbeards Point silver rum was very good as well and the smokey flavor of the Painted Pig just has to be tasted. Unmatched quality, personalized by its owners. If you're in the Smithfield area you won't be disappoined here, most expecially if you are a lover of fine spirits at reasonable prices. Check these folks out !!!

Isle of Wight County Museum

Museum chronicles the history of the Isle of Wight County with a special emphasis on water, ham and agricultural industries. The exhibits include prehistoric fossils, Native American and Colonial artifacts, a turn-of-the-century country store, displays interpreting the Smithfield ham industry and perhaps the museum’s most notable artifact: the world’s oldest, edible cured ham.

Very fun place to visit and lots of interesting things to learn about the County seat. It’s worth the small price of admission and will take about 30 minutes with small kids.
