Bains De Caldane

Reviewed By ThePhilosopher27 - Oxford

Henriette at the desk went out of her way to welcome us and explain how the baths worked. Our twenty minutes in the warm, mineral waters was extremely relaxing, and afterwards we went on a stroll in the grounds to see the chickens and donkeys.Well worth a detour, and you can take in Ste-Lucie de Tallano with its beautiful C15 Couvent St-Francois (being restored, but the outside is stunning and there are some amazing views over the valley).

Megaliths of Cauria

From Propiano we drove towards Tizzano stopping at Les Megalithes de Cauria consisting of three sites, two with menhir alignments and one with dolmen. The walk in was lovely through pastoral scenery with rocky land formations in the distance. No admission - what's better than that?

A Casa di Roccapina

Reviewed By Joanne P - Bowral, Australia

About 25km south of Sartene on the road to Bonifacio, the hills give you a stunning panoramic view of the Golfe de Roccapina and the pink granite rocks. Look out for the Genoese tower and the crouching lion. Plenty of space to pull over and take photos. In spring the hills are alive with wild flowers.

This museum has some remarkable and beautiful exhibits, including some basket work from 6000 years ago and some memorable iron age jewellery. There are also some haunting menhirs in the basement. The objects are well presented and clearly labelled.

Parc Naturel d'Olva

Animal park and botanical trail: At the Parc Naturel d’Olva, in just a few hours, you will discover some of the most beautiful varieties of Corsican trees and the domestic animals of the region. The animals which live in Olva inhabit a 30-hectare natural setting, which, in actual fact, is their own environment. Donkeys and horses are free to roam; in the farmyard, hens and ducks go about their business; she-goats and billy-goats climb the mounds of rocks and sleep in the caves hidden among them. Time comes to a standstill as the newborn savour the joys of their new life under the tender and watchful eye of their mother. Wild olive trees, cork oaks, mastic, cistus, immortelles, and more, everything that creates the fragrance and beauty of Corsica rises up here out of the piles of granite, on which goats and kids balance. A short botanical trail winds around the park, and each species is identified and signposted and, as walkers progress, they become aware of the infinite variety of plants, trees and shrubs in the so-called “wild” world. The site is visited on foot and everyone is free to visit at their own pace and stop where they wish in the shade of the beautiful trees. Picnic areas are available throughout the walk. At the end of the visit, ponies can be rented for children.

La Cave Sartenaise

This shop-bar is one of the best ways to feel Corsica- testing the wonderful red wines of the region with the excellent variety of cheese and meat corsican products. The locals like to hang there and are so friendly and nice. The owner looks really busy and not interested in visitors, but if you are a little patient he will show you the most amazing homemade corsican products and will drink a glass of wine with you- really wonderful person. We had such a good evening here! Take your time in this typical corsican place and enjoy the secrets of Corsica.
