Well worth making the trip to Valenga just south of Ovar to see this amazing church. It is covered with beautiful painted tiles both inside and out. The village is sleepy. You can get a cheap lunch across the square. If you are going down to Aveiro I recommend you take the back road rather than the main road as you will pass some lovely old houses on the way.

La parrocchiale di Cortegaça è di antica origine ma l’edificio attuale è stato costruito di sana pianta a inizio del Novecento. Comunque una bella chiesa con facciata tutta sull’azzurro con le tipiche decorazioni in piastrelle.

Torreira Beach

Reviewed By Amazon122s - Santa Comba Dao, Portugal

After our lovely beach walk in Sao Jacinto, we drove further to visit the Beach of Torreira, who is located another 12 km in the direction of Aveiro, and this also on the coastal strip that separates the Ria of Aveiro from the ocean, besides all its natural beauty, Torreira also provides his visitors with good conditions for practicing surf and other nautical sports, but you are also able to simply enjoy a day at the calm waters of the river.
With an extension of many kilometres, the Torreira Beach becomes never too crowdie and has so always room for many visitors.
On its immense sandy area there are also good conditions for fishing, as you have to know that Torreira is a fisherman’s village which is confirmed by the lots of small and very colourfull boats that are usually there.
You also have a nice bike way running in parallel to the beach.
All this together makes us conclude that the Torreira Beach is a perfect combination of nature and the urban influence, where all is quite harmonized.

The Furaduro Beach in Ovar.
We had a nice beach walk on the boulevard of the Furadouro Beach.
For December very nice weather but a ruff sea, anyhow a time to have a walk.
The boulevard is arriving on the end of his restauration works, this after being destroyed for a great part by stormy weather and the force of the sea.
The beach is not very large but nice and clean, you have lots of parking spots and on the end you have the dunes who are also inviting the people for a walk, and also public toilets for a free use.
You have also a hotel on the boulevard with sea view, some cafes and restaurants, we do think you will enjoy spending a short or long stay with a walk or just to lay in the sun.
Nice place, loved our stay in December, not to many people just like we do love it to be.

Castelo de Santa Maria da Feira

We stopped here on our drive from Porto to Lisbon. Since it was the off-season, we were lucky enough to have the castle to ourselves. The hotel is in great shape. They even have a very informative video that gives a great history of the castle. Definitely a great stop to see an in-tact castle that hasn't been completely commercialized yet. Plus, it was one of the few Castles we visited that you can explore fully. They have done a great job of keeping this place in great condition.
