Everyone needs a secret garden in their life and you’re invited to visit Wendy's, a public garden and much loved oasis in the heart of Sydney. Located a short walk over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, or stroll from Milsons Point and North Sydney train stations, the Secret Garden is a haven where you can explore meandering pathways discovering sculptures; enjoy a picnic basket or read a book at one of the tables beneath the garden’s canopy; or simply enjoy the nature and serenity of your beautiful surrounds. You may even stumble across a fairy. Created over 20 years by artist Wendy Whiteley, wife and muse of Australian artist Brett Whiteley, the Secret Garden is nestled behind Luna Park in one of Sydney's most spectacular suburbs, Lavender Bay. While its free and open seven days a week, there are steep inclines and a range of steps. Visitors with limited mobility may only be able to access the uppermost sections of the garden but we're sure you'll enjoy your visit.

Wendy’s Secret Gardens is amazing! She built her Gardens on terraces and in the background we see the city.
The first view I saw was trees and flowers with a view on the Sydney Harbor Bridge.
We explored everything. Everything was planted with care. There were numerous flowers to discover. As well as views and trees and plants.
We spent more than an hour to explore it and we were able to see the outside of Wendy’s home. She did a fantastic job.
Interestingly enough, we saw many young people on the grass.
However, I will always remember this terraced Gardens. Wow!
This is a must see!

Visited this afternoon to see my local museum. I have lived in the area for 27 years and this was my first visit. I know a staffer, yet not being Catholic, I wasn't drawn to the museum, until today. My entry to the museum was via the cafe, for a large cappuccino ($3.50) and a delicious slice of Tiramisu ($4.20) which are quite reasonable prices for the lower North Shore of Sydney. I just felt an urge to visit the Museum today. At the front door, there is a desk to pay for entry. I paid $8.00 for seniors and was given a sticker to wear on my shirt lapel. What a nice quaint museum with some small galleries, Gardens, the chapel and the church. There are lots of toilets dotted around the premises, so no need for queues. Today was a a primary school excursion day and the children were on their best behaviour and were very quiet. I spent an hour just Reading the notes on the exhibits and walking around the property. I felt amazingly uplifted, sitting alone in front of St Mary's resting place, in the chapel. I felt at peace there, despite a dozen or so other visitors arriving and sitting down to reflect on this great and godly person who was buried there. As in many historic buildings around Sydney, I felt a ghostly presence in the old kitchen (which in its day, had a lot of activity) and my photos always seem blurred in that room. It gives me an impression of invading someone's privacy in that particular room, more so than visiting a bedroom, for instance. I was really interested in learning about the struggles and determination of St Mary and the Sisters of St Joseph and their utter conviction in doing the Lord's work in difficult circumstances. It isn't a large museum or full of modern interaction, but it shows the life and times of Australia's first Saint. For that, we must be grateful that the Church had the energy and compassion to prepare this wonderful exhibition. A visit is highly recommended.

Super spot for a walk by Sydney's magnificent harbor - In sections you are in bush land where city sights are nowhere to be seen. In other sections you are confronted with magnificent views of the Harbour Bridge and downtown Sydney.
Excellent coffee shop and sustainability centre within the reserve.
Easy walk from Waverton station - this Reserve is a real winner!

Peaceful and quiet yet the most amazing views of the harbour and Mosman Bay in Sydney. Magnificent Gardens and parks beautifully maintained by home owners and the local council, only a short 10 minute ride from Circular Quay to escape from the hustle and bustle of the CBD

May Gibbs' Nutcote is the former house and garden of May Gibbs, one of Australia's foremost children's authors and illustrators and creator of Australia's classic children's' story Snugglepot and Cuddlepie. Nutcote was designed by prominent architect B. J. Waterhouse and built for May Gibbs and her husband, James Ossili Kelly, in 1925. May occupied the house for 44 years until her death in 1969. The house has been listed on the Register of the National Estate and has been furnished to reflect the style of the 1920s and 1930s and includes effects owned by May Gibbs, such as her easel, paint box and folio stand.

We took our grandchildren to see May Gibbs' house and garden. We all enjoyed the guided tour of the house and loved the harbour views from the garden. It is an easy 10 min. walk from Neutral Bay wharf - a short ferry ride from Circular Quay. A very enjoyable day out.

Art classes and gallery in North Sydney. Opening hours: Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm, Saturday and Sunday 11am to 4pm. Wonderful Exhibitions by contemporary Australian artists. Studios upstairs with dedicated teachers taking classes 7 days a week and continuing a tradition of excellence established in 1880. Just 3 minutes walk from North Sydney Station via the stairs next to the Harbourview Hotel. Parking at rear of the building is available for students and there is limited street parking.

Highly recommended. Set in an 1850 historic cottage it is the perfect location to view and enjoy outstanding artworks. Regular Exhibitions means every visit uncovers more delights. Close to Wendy Whitely Garden with vista over harbour foreshores. The welcome one receives on entering is second to none and makes the visit even more memorable. Terina J

We have been dining @ Gopinatha's @ Hare Krishna Temple/North Sydney for 4 years now and have not stopped....Altho' the programme has changed in that one can no longer return for seconds....However the price remains the same - $6 for a main meal,soup of the day and a side salad - all served from a hot bain marie and cool fridge....I cannot ever remember returning for seconds in all the time we have been going there,because you are given so much to eat....
The meals are vegetarian of course and very tasty....So highly recommended for a cheap tasty night out....
The little retail shop is also interesting with some lovely clothes and artifacts.....
