Parque Miguel Lillo

Reviewed By katiemetz - Necochea, Argentina

The Parque Miguel Lillo (Miguel Lillo Park), bordered on one side by the Atlantic Ocean and the not-so-bustling streets of Necochea on the other, offers a number of activities for the whole family. If you're looking for a dose of nature, you can walk along the paths or ride bikes among the pine trees or bring along some food and have a little picnic. There are also outdoor grills if you're feeling ambitious and want to barbecue.
During the summertime, there are horses available to rent for rides within the park. You'll get to strike out on your own - these rides are unaccompanied.
Also within the park is the Lago de los Cisnes (Swan Lake), an artificial lake with a number of ducks, geese, and of course, a few swans. It's a nice spot to relax and enjoy the antics of the birds plus there are penned animals (mostly domesticated) in an area where you can walk past and admire them. There's a snack bar as well plus paddle boats for rent.
If you have kids with you, take a ride on the tyke-sized train that choo choos around on its own little track through the park or take them to one of several Playgrounds scattered across the park.
Lastly, if you're in the mood to absorb a bit of knowledge and history, there are two very small museums within the park: the Museo Histórico Regional (Regional History Museum) and the Museo de Ciencias Naturales "Dr. J. Squadrone" (Dr. J. Squadrone Museum of Natural Sciences).

Faro Quequen (Quequen Lighthouse)

Reviewed By katiemetz - Necochea, Argentina

The Faro Quequén (Quequén Lighthouse) is actually located across the river from Necochea in the small city of Quequén. The lighthouse is situated on a piece of land that is slightly elevated from its surroundings, which makes for some nice photo opportunities as you approach the lighthouse (depending on how you arrive).
The Argentine Navy owns the lighthouse, and there are staff on-site at the light station. There is a small fee to visit. A climb to the top affords panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, the port of Quequén-Necochea, and the surrounding landscape.

On a windy day you'll feel the power of nature, you cannot walk against the wind!
