I actually thought we had booked the tour to Khatyn outside Smolensk in neighboring Russia, the site of the murder of at least 4,000 Polish officers and intelligentsia by the NKVD on Stalin's orders. Indeed our guide has difficulty explaining the difference in pronunciation between the two massacre sites.
But I am very glad we did go to this memorial pronounced Hatyn in Belorussian which I had never read about previously.
We spent a very sobering two or three hours here walking the streets of what was once a small tranquil village - even in wartime - and pausing at the now concrete chimneys marking the individual houses and the symbolic barn where so many were burned to death in revenge for the killing of one of Hitler's favourite SS officers by partisans nearby.
Each chimney has a plaque recording the names and ages of the deceased residents together with the hallmark statue of a survivor carrying a wounded child to safety.
There is also a memorial to the deadly Maly Trostenets extermination camp that claimed another 230,000 Belorussians, a great many of them jews from the Minsk ghetto and others from Germany and western Europe. There is also a field of monuments recording the names of the 628 Belorussian villages similarly wiped out by the occupying Nazis in their efforts to stamp out resistance to their iron fisted rule.
A very worthwhile visit to a place of absolute tranquility and reflection.

Don't know how to explain the experience, simply mind boggling.
This place you can't miss. There is a big monument outside and few statues as well.The museum is surrounded by Victory Park, which is nice to walk around.
The museum has an entry fee of around 3 to 4 dollars. My hotel gave me discount vouchers, so I ended up paying less. You pay 50 cents to get a sticker on mobile phone or camera if you want to take photos inside the museum. You can deposit your id at front desk and get a free audio guide as well. Staff are really friendly.
The museum is spread across 3 floors. Its immaculate, pristine clean. I was told before hand by my hotel staff that I can expect lot of visitors crying and I might see people praying for fallen soldiers and civilians who died. I could see why when I visited. Everything from the great war kept in good conditions in the museums and each item is very well described as well, both in English and Russian.
Things range from prisoner tooth picks to tankers, everything there. The guns, ammos used during the war is a collection not to miss. Also the medical equipments, printing presses etc also there. Army heroes' pictures, belongings and their uniforms, everything can be seen.
They have put in serious amount time and effort in collecting the items and maintaining this museum, this is like no other museums. The top floor is pinnacle of architecture and tribute to fallen heroes. All the millions of soldiers who died, names carved on marble. Just beautiful and soul touching.
I ended up spending almost 2 hours or so in this place, loved every minute of it.
Hats off to the management team of this museum. Please don't miss it.

Visited on a hot sunny day, beautiful castle, very well presented, all guests have to wear shoe covers when visiting the inside. self guided tour took us about one hour. Good value for money, the grounds are nice, and nice to walk around. Plenty of places to stop to eat or drink.

An artificially created village that will allow you to learn more about traditional way of life in Belarus countryside. There are pavilions with different crafts, including baking bread, pottery, farriery and much more. There are different domestic animals on the territory as well. You can explore the place on your own (each pavilion has a sign with some history highlights of the craft, in English as well) or take a guide. The village is situated not far from Minsk and is one of must-sees in Belarus. It is better to go there when the weather is nice (not rainy at least).

The Historical and Cultural Complex “Stalin line” is 26 km from the Minsk and 6 km from Zaslavl town. The Historical and Cultural Complex “Stalin line” was founded on 60-th anniversary of soviet people Victory in the Great Patriotic war (IIWW) and it was opened on the 30th of June 2005 in memory of soldures who defend Minsk in 1941. Main museum exposition is related to first days of the Great Patriotic war. “Stalin line” is the chain of defensive installations along the former USSR frontier from Karelian Isthmus to the shores of Black sea. It consisted of twenty three fortified regions including more than four thousand permanent weapon emplacements (pillboxes). All are made from high quality fortification concrete. Four fortified regions – Polotsk, Minsk, Slutsk, Mozyr – were at territory of Belarus in total nine hundred sixty-six pillboxes. Fortified regions formed a united defense line. The entire line of the fortified regions had been built since 1928 till the autumn 1939. Minsk’s fortified region No 63, which was 140 kilometers long included 327 pillboxes. On 26-28th of June 1941 at the lines of the Minsk`s fortified region there was fierce fighting with the attacking units of the German army. The Military-museum exposition was created and planed, so that from first steps a visitor could feel spirit of that time. The opportunity to be absorbed in history is one of the distinctive features of the museum. The basis of the exposition is original pillboxes. All entrenchments and communication trenches with rifle-pits for machine-guns and with blindages and recesses for ammunition were reconstructed according to the year 1940 designs. There is a park of military equipment of different years in the museum. It is the most complete exposition of military equipment in the Republic of Belarus, which was adopted by USSR army in different years, beginning from the Second World War. The museum territory is organized for reenactments of IIWW and modern fights which are planed like special events and happen approximately 10-14 times a year.

A fair way out of Minsk.I wouldn't recommend attempting it on your own.Furthermore there is not a great deal of explanation about the strategic implications of the line.So I had the assistance of Andrei my guide.There is a lot of military hardware for those that like that sort of thing.Over the bridge there are a collection of more recent planes and guns,which I didn't bother with.It was of interest but not on the same level as say the Maginot Line.

As others reviewers have noted, this is a sombre memorial to Minsk's Jewish population, many of whom perished in WWII. The sculptor conveys with numbing effectiveness the hopeless descent into the abyss of the men, women and children who fell victim to Nazi terror. Although situated in a small park, the fact that the monument is surrounded by apartment blocks and busy roads only serves as a reminder that the people it commemorates were taken out of their homes in this very area.

This place is definitely worth a visit on the way to the Nesviz castle. It will not require many time (if you are not going to take part in pray). It is very beautiful aincent church , and has some interesting stories in it's history.

Even when you're not planning to attend a performance here, this place is worth a visit. The National Opera and Ballet is well designed and has great eye-appeal. In addition, it's placed inside a lovely park, which is also definitely worth a stroll.
Anyway, most people will probably want to go here to see a ballet. It's definitely worth your time and it's not that expensive. It's all a bit of a flashback to the Soviet days, but in this case that's just a plus.
Definitely recommend to complete your trip to Minsk.
