Fabulous brewery tour. Very simple format. No pretentious waffle here! The beer tasting at the end was obviously a treat. And no thimble fills of beers were served. Decent pourings, top ups and good chat. You are also given a token to purchase a beer or a bottle of beer to take Home and enjoy. We stayed around and soaked up the lovely atmosphere of the bar. Enjoying a pork pie a beer and the good company of the locals.

Very deceptive from the outside. We were enticed by the wonderful chimes every four hours from the bell tower playing a full version of seven different tunes. Once inside a large parish church, bigger than St George’s Chapel in Windsor, opened up into a wonderful world of history dating back over 600 years. History includes EdwardV and Prince Arthur, Prince of Wales. It breast a superb Organ and a choir off over 20. Beautiful original 15th c stained glass windows and painted timbers which survived the destruction performed by the parliamentarians on churches.a must see if staying in Ludlow.

Stokesay Castle

Reviewed By rdrdaniel - Shropshire, United Kingdom

A beautiful and interesting example of Mediaeval and Early-Modern Salopian architecture. The entry over the moat takes one through the 17th century gatehouse into the castle (more an early fortified manor house) itself. The courtyard is pleasant with a number of flowers, grapes, benches and the tearooms. The tower is located to the south where it is possible to climb to the very top for a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. The great hall is located in the centre with rooms to explore on either end. Perhaps the most interesting are the rooms located at the top of north end of the great hall within the Jettied timber framing.
The gift-shops, where one pays, and the toilets are located on the approach to the castle from the car park; the car park itself is reasonable priced. Do also visit the Anglican church of St John the Baptist located on the way from the car park to the castle, and take some of the paths to explore the local countryside.
I would suggest spending a couple of relaxed hours here exploring slowly so as to fully enjoy the castle and its location. There are plenty of other places to explore nearby for those on an extended day-trip or holiday.

Went here, on a lovely sunny Autumn day and the views were stunning, it really is surprising, just how far you can see. Easily accessible, but think you do need decent weather, to appreciate the scenery.

This fortification is perched on top of a hill so has terrific views over the nearby countryside. Located right in the centre of Ludlow the castle has a lovely walk around it and a lovely cafe that is perfectly located next to Dinham Wier for a coffee and snack.

Having been before we knew what to expect and enjoyed every minute. My wife was particularly taken with the textile room where she tried her hand at various methods, some of which she may well try in winter. The children bottle-feeding the lambs clearly enjoyed the experience as one hope did the sheep.

We are often around this way and looking for new areas to explore and let the pup off lead- this was all that and more. The scenery is incredible, the paths are perfectly laid out and there are walking routes for all abilities (pushchairs/wheelchairs, older/younger and keen hikers too) if you want to follow, you can mix it up and make it as hard or as easy as you like. Definitely can get your heart going!
We got a bit carried away off our route but the views were worth it, already planning a bigger walk for when we are round here next. Of course our pup absolutely approves! Couldn’t recommend this place enough for absolutely anyone just wanting to get some fresh air!

Castle Lodge

Castle Lodge is a medieval Tudor and Elizabethan period house in Ludlow, a short walk from the Castle. We happened to pass it and were amazed to find that inside is a house largely untouched since Tudor times. In place are original panelled walls, stone fireplaces, ornate ceilings and staircases all intricately decorated. A near perfect example of a prosperous Tudor family home.
A gem we’re lucky exists at all & which needs supporting.

I've been here several times for various reasons. It's a very good facility for hiring conference rooms, holding auctions and events. Ample parking space, helpful, friendly staff, clean / tidy throughout as with their toilets. Railway line runs parallel to it with a golf course next door too. Easy to get to.
