The 10 Best Things to do in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur

April 21, 2022 Margarita Chappel

Mexico's fastest growing resort area offers miles of empty desert and deserted beaches. Laid-back nightlife and old-fashioned fun in the sun is the Cabos' lure. Only certain beaches are safe for swimming, however, including Lovers' Beach and the more tempestuous and aptly named Divorce Beach. Whale watching, hang-gliding, snorkeling, antiquing, golf and fishing, Loreto's historic mission, and sport fishing and dining in capital La Paz are other attractions. SuburBaja buses travel the coast.

Cabo Pulmo Marine Preserve

A sanctuary to the only living coral reef on the western side of the continent.

We travelled in a mini rental vehicle on the dirt roads that lead south from La Ribera towards San Jose Del Cabo via Cabo Pulmo and a host of other small settlements. It’s an arduous journey in a standard small vehicle ???? but after seeing the beaches the bird life and most of all the numerous breaching humpback whales ???? from the coastline it was a road trip of a life time. You really need a 4x4 but our little car managed it with a gold star. ( probably more to do with the driver ????) I’d recommend it to all as it was simply an amazing drive. ****Word if warning***** Don’t attempt this in a normal vehicle if it’s been raining or in the dark. You won’t make it. Give yourself a good 6 hours to complete the journey

Rancho Collins

Offers horseback tours of the spectacular desert landscape.

Reviewed By trishtci - Austin, United States

Our ride was arranged through our concierge at Paradisus which is where the ride begins/ends. Our first ride was an 0800 ride with Jorge who took made sure we had optimal opportunities for pictures of our ride with spectacular backdrops. The horses were well behaved and spunky for our group of three riders. We opted for a 1 hr ride that morning going east from the hotel and enjoyed the narrative by Jorge along the way. We booked an additional ride 1 1/2 the next morning and headed west toward CSL along the beach and enjoyed seeing the bat rays jumping as we rode along. Again the horses were well behaved and energetic. If you are an experienced rider there are opportunities to go at your own pace. We booked these rides as private rides for just the three of us but group rides are available as well. Would loved to have done one more! PS if you have a buffet be sure to bring an apple for your mount for the end of the ride! Long pants and shoes recommended

El Chorro Hot Spring

Reviewed By 972LizC - Minneapolis, United States

We were beached due to winds in Cabo Pulmo, so we were happy to find out there are hot springs! We didn't know about Santa Rita. The bumpy dirt roads throught agua caliente from Santiago to the springs were part of the fun. Entrance fee to the springs 25 pesos per person. Parking free, we were alone when visiting. You climb up past the dam and there are a few warm areas then a very hot nice clean area blocked off by stones to sit. You can climb up to waterfalls, people told us to go about 30 minutes but it is over rocks so we skipped it.
