Sentier du littoral - Le Lavandou - Plage de la Fossette

The sentier littoral makes for a nice and at times challenging walk. Beware! This walk is NOT "flip flop" friendly and those with mobility issues probably should avoid, also probably not ideal for small children under age 6. Aside from those caveats, it makes for a good walk and it's nice to see the coast line right up close in ways that a sandy beach won't deliver. Enjoy!

The beach at Cavaliere is attractive. Very family orientated and bordered by several restaurants. It is very easily accessible with street and free parking. There are shaded areas with trees towards the back of the beach where locals sit. A well paced bathing platform to swim to, adds to the fun.

Not worth the full price for parking as there are plenty of other lovely Beaches around. The cafe is good for a snack or coffee. It has a great view of the president's summer redidence.

Grande Plage du Lavandou

This beach, as its name says , is a big beach. It's a sandy beach and the water is clean and the sea is beautiful. Sometimes it can be too crowded as it's the famous Cote d'Azur, in summer, thousands and thousands of people pour in from all over France or from other countries. Its advantage being closed to the town centre and when you come out from the beach, tired and drained, there are all the restaurants and bars just cross the road. You won't go far wrong to have a drink or a meal there first before you decide what to do next.

My wife was not that keen but we both found the visit very interesting and a "must do" for a unique property. Guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took time to explain everything in English for us. You must book and pre-pay at the tourist office and park in the beach next door where you get a discount and can stay for a swim/lunch after your visit so make a day of it.

This beach is about 1 km from the beach of Aiguebelle, that is , 6 km from the Lavandou town centre. It's got its own character, which is , very remote and hard to access. You can easily miss it. You need to walk down to a long stairs of about 100 steps, without any handrails on both sides, thus it's hard and dangerous for elderly people. But for those who favour less crowded beach, this is the ideal place. The water is clean and transparent, the sand is fine. On the very left hand side of the beach, naturist are frequent. There are some coves also but to access you need to wet your feet hence this beach has a nickname called beach of elephant. We stay just a short while here to sit on the beach, to do some sunbathing and enjoy a bit of the sea breeze. Then we continue to explore the other Beaches since there are 12 of them in Lavandou.

Nice sandy beach in a bay. Water is clear. No steep slope, so safe for younger children. Parking in forest area. There is a cafe, restaurant. No parasols or beds for rent. Can be crowdy so better to go early morning.

The beach is far from the Lavandou town centre, it's about 5 kilometres' distance on the east side of the town. The place is in a residential area but also with lots of holiday studios for short let. A couple of our friends hire one beach house and invite us here to barbecue and also to enjoy the beach. There are many restaurants along the beach but be careful not to stumble on the private part of the beach. That day the weather's a bit chilly in the morning but it gets warmer after the sun comes out. We walk along the sandy beach but not doing any swimming as it's too crowded on a Sunday. Our friends say that during the evening, with all the restaurants and bars lights lit up, the atmosphere can be lively and boisterous that leaves one in a constantly party mood.
