This environment for art is more than beautiful. A natural landscape with serene pavillions squatered al over the park. Perfect for an inspiring day for art lovers. Ancient art (Chinese for example) combined with modern art, without explication. Just look, discuss, dream and think. Enjoy the biological lunch which is included in the entrance ticket. Hombroich is a fascinating experience.

St. Quirinus Church

Reviewed By mWrite - Helsinki, Finland

This church was built in 13th century and completed 1230. I can't stop admiring how they have managed to build this one almost 800 years ago.
You can reach this place easily with tram (#709) from Düsseldorf, ticket costs EUR2,7 oneway and takes about 15min. If you can't get teenagers to come with you otherwise, there is TK Maxx close by, if shopping motivates better the younger generation.

Rheinufer

Stretching for over 10 miles along the Rhine, this path is well suited for walking, biking and inline skating.

Reviewed By Neil K - Liverpool, United Kingdom

My twin brother Stephen and I were in Dusseldorf over the Christmas period and we walked down the wonderful Prominade and what a great walk.
Walking down the prominade and the riverfront there are some wonderful buildings that look really cool, the views of the River Rhine are stunning and it was so nice clearing our heads after our beery night previously were we cut into the magnificent Old Town and the great Christmas Market.
The Christmas market in Burgplatz is awesome and the pubs, bars and restaurants not just along the Prominade but in the Old Town are fantastic.
Well worth checking out.

Stadterhebungsmonument

Reviewed By Neil K - Liverpool, United Kingdom

Stadterhebungsmonument is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most beautiful and well detailed Sculpures I've ever seen.
Located in Burgplatz this stunning Sculpure was commissioned in 1988 on the 700th anniversary city jubilee.
Designed by renowned Sculpure Bert Gerresheim, when you first look at it you could be forgiven into thinking it's a hotch botch of figures from a bygone age but on closer inspection you see how wonderful the art work is not just the main monument but the other parts of the monument stretching onto the little bridge.
The famous battle of Worringen were Dusseldorf gained it's independence are interwoven into the sculpture, the breastplates, helmets and figures are beautifully detailed, the skeleton is superb as is the mountain lion which is located by the market cart, this part of the monument is significant as it points to the market rights gained in 1288 by Dusseldorf to become a market town,a brochure can be obtained from the town hall which details the significance of the monument.
The location in the beautiful Old Town means it's a very popular tourist attraction and it's just so nice looking at this amazing statue and seeing how much of the cities history is actually encapsulated into this wonderful piece of art.
Easy to locate in Burgplatz in an area of outstandingly beautiful architecture and most definitely well worth checking out.

Clemens-Sels-Museum

The Clemens Sels Museum Neuss is notable for the diversity of its collection, which encompasses a broad spectrum of the history of art and culture. A prominent position is occupied by the art collection. Alongside major paintings from the Middle Ages and by 17th century Dutch painters, the works by the Nazarenes, Pre-Raphaelites and Symbolists make it a collection unique in Germany. Also represented are the Rhineland Expressionists with a superb selection of paintings, prints and stained glass. Additionally the Museum has comprehensive holdings of paintings and sculptures by Naïve artists who occupy an entirely distinct position within the art of the 20th century. In the area of contemporary art color painting is another focus of the Museum’s collection. Other sections give insight into pre- and early modern history, the historical and economic development of the city of Neuss and the rise of regional bourgeois culture.

Reviewed By A-flying-Dutchman - Maastricht

The Clemens-Sels Museum in Neuss includes a beautiful collection of Roman artifacts. Neuss, in Roman times Novaesium, is not far from the Limes, the former Roman border of the Romans. So the place developed early. The museum, which also includes other collections, is well accessible. The collections are well documented. There is a place where you can get some drinks, and you can buy some little things at the cash register.
The museum is within walking distance of the station, but is also easily accessible by public transport.

MedienHafen

Reviewed By mWrite - Helsinki, Finland

MedienHafen area is nice area close by Rheinturm. Harbour area has few old buildings and plenty of new ones where architects have had free hands. Result is unique buildings with plenty of interesting details. Medienhafen houses for example known German magazine "Focus" and design shop Vitra. Several nice restaurants and hotel. I would not necessarily overnight here as I guess area is quiet in the evening.
