Interesting cave series in an interesting geolgical area. Dechenhohle caves are not as spectacular as some, e.g., formations are rather grey and dull.

Terrific museum, knights and armor, ancient weapons... a dungeon, a 500 foot well... fascinating place to visit! This castle is also the world's oldest Youth Hostel! (still in operation!) New tram brings you from the quaint village nestled on the banks of a river up the hill to view this medieval treasure.

Visted the park primarly to view the former Stalag VIA and as way to walk into the Felsenmeer. There was a temporary exhibit regarding the park's original use as a prisoner of war / slave labor camp which was enlightening and moving, particualrly as its origins were "forgotten" until recent years. Also interesting to see the former "tank sheds" remain intact from the camps time as a panzer base. It was good to see former camp now converted for family fun and one hopes that we never see a return to those terrible times. As to the park amusements, we enoyed the tower and the maze.

This is a large open-air museum with many traditional houses each displaying some traditional skill. Skills include several kinds of metal working, paper making, leather making, bristle production, rope making, fabric dyeing, bee keeping, cigar production, and more. Of course there is also a tavern. There's a nice exhibition of metal products too, with many old weapons.

This was an interesting place to visit on our industrial archeology explorations, but having been there, I would only suggest you visit if it isn't too much trouble. It is uphill on a narrow road up to the castle. Parking will be quite a challenge, but so will walking. There are some hands on activities, lots of items made of and with wire, a couple of videos in German, and some displays of wire making tools.
