They have an interesting collection of aquatic life primarily from the sea of Japan, but also have a section for Asia and Africa.Penguins was a bit of a downer, but the sealion show was cool. Beluga whales were absolutely fantastic and well trained. What was really cool is that there is a stunning white sand beach right on the opposite side of the park connected by a suspension bridge. It also has a play area for kids (and perhaps adults) with cool and elaborate slides, hammocks, swings, zipline, nets and what not. If I was a child not older than 15 yrs, I would want to come here everyday. Entry fees for the whole thing ~15 USD, so not bad at all. All in all, I was not expecting to find such a high standard facility with Beaches and national park nearby in the rural town I was living in.

津和野を出発して出雲に向けて車を走らせていたこの日の私たちは、途中にあるいくつかの道の駅に立ち寄りながら目的地をめざしていました。浜田市にある道の駅ゆうひパーク浜田にも立ち寄りました。
この道の駅は、浜田市の港とその向こうの日本海と海に浮かぶ島々を見下ろす高台に建っています。私たちが訪れたのは午前中で、海がキラキラと輝いていてきれいでした。道の駅の北側から西にかけて海が広がっているので、ネーミングの通り、夕日がきれいに見えるんだろうと思いました。

Clean waters, beautiful scenery on the way to the beach (along with a sand beach with some Surfing scene going on on the other side of the mountain). The violent tectonic activity of this piece of land is pretty obvious the moment you set your foot on this beach through 2 tunnels with clear visible layers of sandstone. The strange "rock bubbles" are interesting to watch.
Its not a typical attraction, but if you are in the area, its pretty relaxing and a bit other wordly. Water is pretty cold though for most parts of the year.

北西の眼下に日本海を望める小さな小さな道の駅で、個人店のような雰囲気ですが、ゆっくりと休憩するには丁度いいですよ。ブランチで立寄るにはぴったりです。

If you like clocks and you happen to be in Hamada on the hour, this is the place to visit and watch the kagura clock. I wouldn't make a special trip, but it's interesting to watch.

浜田の魚や名産を売っているらしいが、全体的に閑散として活気がない。売られているのは、山陰の物産店にあるようなものばかりで、浜田を強く感じさせてくれるものがない。値段も、なんだかなあだ。だいたい、なぜ浜田でノドグロを売りにしたいのかがわからない。ノドグロはもっと東の魚でしょ。鳥取では正月魚だし、新潟や北陸では昔からブランドだ。ノドグロは寒流系の魚だから、東に行くほどうまいだろうに。松江市出身のテニス選手のおかげで島根のノドグロが注目されているのかもしれないが、浜田＝ノドグロというイメージが沸いてこない。売られているノドグロは小さく、こんな早くからとってどうするんだろう。資源は大丈夫かとも思ってしまう。
ただ、知人の話では朝は活気があるという。たしかに朝に市が立つのだから、午後3時にもなって行くほうが悪いのかもしれない。

子供連れですと、あまりお楽しみが少ないエリアです。
私も、いろいろ探すとここでワークショップを週末中心で開催。
スーパーボール作りや、子供喜ぶメニュ多々です。
しかも、コーチ役のお兄さんたちは実に親切。
子供も飽きずに、親も子供楽しむ顔見れてよい機会でした。

滑り初めの頃～シーズン1回の頻度で伺っています。
大雪の時、リフト下など滑りごたえのあるコースがあります。
ただコース間が平らだったり、リフトが遅い分、初心者にオススメです。
もう少しアクセス良くなるとお客さんも増えると思います。

曹洞宗の寺院で、三隅城跡の山城への途中にあります。立派に整備された自動車道路を上ってゆくと道路の横には数10ｍごとにお地蔵様がありやがて、広い境内への入口に到着です。境内が非常に広く整備された公園のようです。立派な山門を通って、本堂へ進み。中に上がってお参りしました。真上の天井を見上げると大きな龍の壁画は印象的です。立派で荘厳的なお寺でした。

裸体や植物を描いて定評がある日本画家の石本正縁の美術館が故郷の浜田市三隅町にあります。浜田道浜田JCTから国道９号線約３０分とアクセスは非常に悪いです。周囲には浜田市と合併前の三隅町の小中学校など公共施設も集中しています。公民館的施設も多い中、石本画伯がイタリアを旅した影響もあってか、この美術館は南欧教会風の造りで興味を引きます。石本ファンは１日潰すつもりで浜田市を訪問しても損はないかも。
