Halesworth & District Museum

When you visit Halesworth make sure you visit the Museum, housed in our Victorian Railway Station. For more than twenty years volunteers have been collecting and researching the history and archaeology of this fascinating corner of Suffolk. Spend some time with the displays which will take you across 10,000 years, from the earliest settlers in the Blyth Valley to the busy hub of malting, brewing and agriculture which was the town in Victorian times. For the 2018 season we have four new exhibitions, “They paid the price … men from Halesworth killed in the Great War”; “The British Red Cross in Halesworth & District 1914-1918”, “The de Argenteins, Lords of Halesworth Manor” and in a new cabinet the Wissett Hoards two significant hoards of Middle Bronze Age Axeheads and Spear Heads. We have also changed the Railway exhibit to include three models.

Delightful self-guided tour of approximately 1km around a charming small scale vineyard in a lovely location followed by a tasting of first class English wines. The tour is very well laid out and delivers lots of interesting and relevant information at each point of interest. At the end of tour tasting the owners are very happy to answer any questions and clearly take great pride in their wines, which of course they are very happy to sell too you. The tour is very good value and suited to both novices and enthusiasts.

Oasis Camel Park

Reviewed By Sellest - Bushey, United Kingdom

Came here 3 weeks ago with my partner and our two youngest (17 and 11) and had a great day. Was much better than I had expected and we spent 4 enjoyable hours here (could have spent more but we needed to get on our way). All the animals seem well looked after and the staff/keepers are all very knowledgeable. There was plenty to see and do (from the miniature train ride, to the camel talks – where you can find out all about the camels, ask questions and have your photo taken – to the hands on petting area where you can hold rabbits and guinea pigs to just watching the birds or the comical meerkats or stroking the camels and llamas) Make sure you buy some animal food as we really enjoyed feeding all the animals – but especially the lemurs who were so gentle as they took each piece of food from us. We also enjoyed the crazy golf and our youngest enjoyed the pedal cars. We paid extra for a camel ride for our youngest (think it was £9) but the highlight was the llama walk (think this was £7 for 40 minutes) – this was amazing, what lovely creatures llamas are – our son really enjoyed walking the llama around the park and we also enjoyed it (and got some excellent photos). This is a great place for adults and kids. Entrance for the 4 of us was £33 (as they had a voucher on their website for a £1 off each person) and was well worth it (even paying the extra for the camel ride and the llama walk were well worth the cost)

St Peter, Wenhaston

The unique feature of this church is the Wenhaston Doom dating from the late C15th. Now in a new position, lower down in the church so that you can get a better view, it's a series of wooden boards containing the paintings of a Crucifix surrounded by the Virgin Mary, St John and the Day of Judgement. Amazing
