Yardbirds Rock Club

The title reflects the current restrictions of covid and Yardbirds have excelled in trying to get live music back on .everyone welcoming and friendly and have been many times but not in strange times .On entry checked in via app then temperature taken and showed to a choice of tables all with screens between for our safety.Drinks ordered by text and all very good prices with many offers available. The solo gig with Jim Kirkpatrick (fm)promoting his solo album was a gem and even limited to just 50 people it sold out ..Well done to Yardbirds for giving us a chance to see live music

Grimsby Golf Club

A real hidden jewel in Lincolnshire. You stumble upon the impressive and distinctive clubhouse, which sits back slightly from the road in an almost understated way. You will be surprised that a golf course exists in an area which, at first glance, seems to be surrounded by houses, but be prepared as this beautiful course will take your breath away. At 6,142 yards, the course is not particularly long, but it is a demanding yet enjoyable test of your golfing skills. Established in 1922, the course is set in 123 acres of mature, undulating parkland and was designed by renowned course architect, Henry Shapland 'Harry' Colt and is unique to this area of Lincolnshire.

Whilst on holiday in Cleethorpes we decided to attend a production of Play On at the Caxton Theatre and we are very glad we did. The theatre itself is delightful and very comfortable. The Play was very good and very funny - we have not laughed as much for a long time ! The only downside was that the area the theatre is in is not very nice and we were advised by our hotel not to park near the theatre so opted for a taxi. Overall though a very enjoyable visit and one I can recommend if the production is to your taste !

I have been a member at Grimsby Golf Club for 3 years now, and after an early flourish my game has gradually deteriorated. With the crazy weather we have been experiencing I took up the offer of a winter membership for the studio - I planned to use it like a driving range and hopefully would see some improvement with all the practice I would be getting in. Again, after another initial benefit I again seemed to hit a wall, and it seemed that no amount of YouTube videos could help! The club pro Simon Jowitt showed me how I could use the Quad Pro more constructively, and in doing so he advised about the lie angle of my clubs that was not helping me strike the ball properly. I got this sorted and after that didn't wave a magic wand I decided a few lessons were the way forward. I had my first lesson on Wednesday, and Simon was very constructive throughout. I am sure my swing could be deconstructed totally and put back together again, and in the future I suppose this may happen, but Simon concentrated on my habitual fade/slice as this was definitely causing me the most stress! Showing me the numbers on the Quad Pro meant I could see the results instantly and it gave me such confidence. I went to the studio prior to my game on Friday, using it to warm up and also to practice the techniques I had been taught. Then it was time to step into the course, and despite the cold air, the wind and the rain, I hit my best score ever (going round in 80 when my handicap is 20!) Yes it may be my initial flourish that I have experienced at different stages already, but hopefully with the studio being used to it's full potential and with further lessons, the scores will continue to decrease and I can look forward to enjoying more good rounds round this fantastic course.

Docks Beers

Docks Beers is a craft beer brewery, taproom and beer shop in an old Church near Grimsby's famous Docks. Our brewing is inspired by our location and the hard work ethic of dockers past and present. We brew our beers on an exhibition brewery which is in full view of the taproom. Visitors can watch the brewers hard at work while they sup a pint chosen from a number of Docks Beers on tap, or a selection of real ales on handpull brewed by our sister brewery Axholme Brewing Co. We also stock a range other brewery's beers, wines, gins, cider and soft drinks. We have snacks - crisps, nuts, cured meats and pickled eggs. If you fancy something more substantial we have a wood fired sour dough pizza menu from Tredici who will deliver pizza to the taproom. Brewery tours and beer tastings are available on the first Saturday of every month. There are four tours 10:30, 12:00, 13:30 and 15:00. Tours must book in advance via our website. Our off-licensed shop sells beers and merchandise to take away.

A fantastic museum to delight all ages. Great interactive displays which give you an idea of being aboard a trawler. The absolute best bit was the tour of the Ross Tiger trawler by the old Skipper. This was amazing. So interesting. A must do if you are in Grimsby.
