Chennimalai Murugan Temple

Awesome temple on a hillock with spiritual significance. Moolavar is manifested in the form of Dandayudapani. Contrary to regular practice, here Moolavar pooja and Nivedya precedes that of Lord Vinayagar in the temple premises. The recent renovation done added to the beauty around. In the Maha mandapa of the hill temple, there is a pillar with a sculpture of a Deer with four bodies and one head. Also, in the dome of Sobana Mandapa, the 12 Raasi’s images are sculpted. If we take the steps found just behind the Moolavar Sannidhi, we reach the Valli deiyvannai Temple. The two consorts enshrined in a separate temple is a very unique phenomenon. In the newly constructed Raja Gopuram with five levels, there is a Chain sculpted out of a Single Stone. Tuesday and Shasti are special days to have dharsan.

Arulmigu Magudeshwarar & Veeranarayanapperumaal Temple

Reviewed By RamGanesan - Chennai (Madras), India

Kodumudi is a very small town in Erode district and can be easily accessed by public transport from the nearby larger towns. This Shiva and Vishnu temple unique in that nature as well have seen sung by the three great saivaite saints. The temple is very neatly maintained. There are several smaller shrines inside the temple, however the distinct one is the shrine for Brahma, which is not seen in most temples in India. This is defiantly unique and the shrine is under a Vanni tree which grows in a very different manner with the right side baring fruit and the left side none. The car parking is really large, but the sore point is that one needs to pay a panchayat toll and also pay the car parking. A must see temple if in that area.
