I went there with my fiancé to celebrate mass. It is known as St Anne's sanctuary which includes the new church, old church, a square, St Anne's hill and community hall. Built in 1846, the church is a landmark for Bukit Mertajam and is part of the road that leads to Kulim, Kedah. The new church is one of the largest in Malaysia, incorporating new and old designs. The hill has quite a lot of steps to climb though. St Anne's Feast is one of the highlights of the year for the church. Certainly worth a visit!

Penang Ferry Terminal

Reviewed By Grace B - Kuching, Malaysia

A fairly easy and well-signposted walk from Butterworth Railway Station for foot passengers with light luggage, thanks to the covered walkway connecting the station with the ferry terminal. Went on a rainy day and the covered walkway kept everyone dry. Best to have your RM1.20 ready by the time you reach the ticket counter. The walk from the station to the terminal involves stairs and there are no ramps for the disabled or the elderly, which is really unfortunate.

It’s certainly worth a visit
The place is a bit past it’s best and the aviaries in need of replacement, but there’s a wide variety of birds, indigenous and from other continents. There is also a crocodile and mouse deer which are enchanting
The birds are well looked after and in good condition, likewise the environment inside the aviaries is well maintained and fresh.
It’s a great environment for kids and you are able to make contact and feed some birds
The staff are friendly and helpful
It’s an organisation that needs more funding and support, so visit if you can

This is the place to be in when you visit Penang for the Nine Emperor Gods Festival. It's the heart and soul of the festival and attracts 1000's of people in the 9 days. At other times of the year it's a great place of peace and highly recommended to visit although you either have to take a taxi or come with your own transport as this temple is on the Mainland in Butterworth and not easy to travel to (despite only 15-20 minutes by bicycle from the jetty)

A decent station, and knowing the sad state of most Malaysian train stations, this could have been a lot worse. Definitely could be better though and more than just "decent". Didn't hang around long enough to appreciate anything other than the covered walkway that's connected to Pengkalan Sultan Abdul Halim Ferry Terminal.

I go to this place once a month. Basically I like their technique more than other thing they can offer. If you like hardcore foot reflexology you can ask for uncle Steven. Normally 8 will have a 1 1/2 hour session.
