We did this as a day hike, overnight camping, and then paraglide down combination. I would not recommend it.
It started with a very rough drive up where even my husband, who isn't scared of much, was terrified of flying over the edge of cliffs as we sped up a super narrow road into oncoming traffic.
From there, we did a short day hike on a very well maintained trail that we certainly did not need guides for. The provided lunch was also disappointing.
After the hike, we basically car camped on a hill, with some nice views, but with a lot of other people, families, and maybe schools driving up and making a lot of noise.
The next morning, we met new guides to paraglide down the mountain. I specifically requested a "smooth ride" and even after confirming, my guide took us on a spinning route that caused me to nearly puke. Immediately when we landed, he quickly walked away, likely knowing that I was not happy with his adventure attempts.
Do not go with this company!

Pilot control para-glider from take off to Landing and the person need to experience and enjoy the flight. Flight is for 20 to 30 mins from Billing to Bir. Billing is takeoff point at the altitude of 2430 mt from sea level and the landing is at Bir Chougan area for 1350 mt from sea level. Paragliding at Bir Billing is one of the best spot of paragliding in world. Awesome place, must visit, lifetime experience.
Bir, where we started our bonfire and did our overnight camping.
The view and food offered was amazing, quality and quantity both were 10/10(the bir hotel)
Next day we boarded the car provided by the owner who dropped us to the paragliding site BILLING 45 min drive from bir.
And now comes the best part...flying....man it was awesome, breathakingly beautiful.
If wind is good u might last upto 40-50 mins in the air, and even if the there is no wind u will still have a flight upto 15 mins or so.

Within our trip of Bir-Billing-Mcleodganj, we took time out to visit this place. Monastery is something different from our routine life, the sound of so called drums were really enticing. One of the monk served their tea too, inside the monastery, which was unlike normal tea. Actually it was salty. Lots of bright colours also make the monastery look good.

I HV done paragliding a few times before, this was the best!me,my husband and my 7 yr old daughter did paragliding in May 2017. each was charged 2500rs including high quality go pro video(camera is in your hand all the time) and including vehicle to the launch site which is approx 40min drive from the landing site. the glider pilots were nice n did a mini glide for my 5yr old daughter as well for free. i think I got a good deal as it wasn't very crowded since it rained that day n day before.It is definitely cheap as the height of the launch site in 2430m above sea level and 1000m from parking site. it's a good 15-20min paragliding. Also they took money from us only after handing over the videos,(other places I HV seen they take advance payment n then make us glide without proper wind). some tips- park your car at the landing site, go during proper weather conditions no rain nor cloudy, run with your glider on the slope with all ur strength n sit on the seat only when told to do so, depending on wind direction plan n be prepared to wait for may be half hr to 45mins(each person) before you go up in the air. It's safe n definitely a lifetime experience, so relax n enjoy!! highly recommend...

Bir is a small Tibetan refugee village(including locals as well) located in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh and is basically famous for paragliding adventure sport and its monasteries. It is about 15km away from the all famous Baijnath town and approx 50 km from Dharamshala. It is easily accessible from Delhi or near by areas by state bus survive or the Volvo service.
The Bir Billing sights particularly gained popularity after the Paragliding World Cup 2015 and is recognised as the second best Paragliding sight in the world. One could find a cheap hotel to rent or a home stay would be proper if you are planning to stay for a long duration. For us we stayed at hari om homestay and paid 100 INR per person per day.
Most of the tourist visit Bir for tandem paragliding flight, in which you are made to sit in a harness and enjoy the majestic view from about 300-400metre above the ground, while the pilot guides the glider. A tandem flight costs you from 2000 to 2500INR and if you want a video of the whole flight then you need to pay 500 to 700INR extra.
In our case we were a group of 3 friends who had planned to pursue a paragliding pilot course instead of a tandem flight.
The paragliding course comprise of 2 stages, basic (P1 and P2 level) and advance P3 level. The total course duration is of approx 15 days and once completed, you would become a certified pilot ready to fly solo throughout India.
In order to gain international FAI certificate, you need to complete 100 solo flying hours post your advance course.
There are a number of paragliding instructors available in Bir and they do charge fee according to their experience and other facilities. The cost for P1 and P2 course is approx 15 to 20 thousand INR and P3 would separately cost around 30thousand.
During the P1 and P2 course you would be made to undergo ground handling training for 4 days and it would be followed by 3 to 4 solo flights mainly focusing on takeoff and landing procedure. The P3 course generally focus upon advance techniques comprising of details about different strings, acrobatic skills and identifying thermalling to gain height.
The best time to undergo a course would be october to december and march because the tainu season is a big NO and the months of december to february would be tok Cold to handle. In fact a lot of foreign paragliding pilot visit the area during october to december.
The ground training takes place at the landing ground near Bir and the takeoff sight is located in Billing, which is approx 20kms away and 500m high from Bir. The view from above the ground is breathtaking and if you are a first time solo flyer then definitely could scare you as the glider make surprise and sudden movements. A solo flight will leave you with a thrilling and surreal experience where you would find yourself hanging in air and would catch a bird eye view of lush green fields and monastries, while the fast wind breezes past your senses. But sure the post flight satisfaction and experience would leave you wanting for more.
A typical flight can be of 15 to 20 minutes and it could be stretched to 3 to 4 hours, depending upon your stamina, experience and weather conditions. So if you decide to become a paragliding pilot and pursue the course, definitely Bir is a perfect place but do make sure that you would handle the height and have a strong heart because after all it is a bit risky sport and anything could happen while you try to out smart the nature.

An Experience of Lifetime, While at Bir In Himachal Pradesh. A site of World Paragliding Championship of Oct,2015 Some 16 Kms. Up from Colonel's Resort, Colonel J.P.Singh Arranged Pilots for Paragliding, Went All the Way Up to Bir Billing. Travelling By Car itself was Scary , and what to say about Jumping from there ??!!!!! But Hold for those few Minutes , Get Ready and Experience the Paragliding..... You will Love to do it Again and Again. If your Pilot is Skilled , He will take you to Great Heights , can See Snow Capped Himalayan Ranges and ...... An Experience , One Can Not Explain in Words.

The paragliding take off is 14 kms from Bir landing site which is full of sharp and curvaceous turns. Depending on which month you are visiting, you may see different colors of nature. Once you are finalized the paragliding (Rs. 2500 per person per take off) they will take you up from Bir to Billing and from there you will take off. Its approx. 25 minutes gliding with a pilot. Its closed for 2 months in Monsoon (tentative July & Aug) , else open 10 months in the year. From Bir to Billing its 45 minutes drive, getting ready is another 10 minutes and gliding time is 30 minutes.
