Left Bank Books

Reviewed By 162leslie - Belfast, United States

We have an overload of bookstores in Belfast. I shop in all of them, spreading the little money I have amongst them. I have always loved Left Bank Books. A comfortable place to peruse, and taste the books, with a good selection for adults and children. Comfy chairs to dip into the books, with no one suggesting you've been there too long, but maybe I'm a good customer, and they know I CAN"T walk out of the store without SOMETHING. The women, who own it and their employees are incredibly knowledgeable and I usually manage to find the book I need, wrapping paper I need, cards I need, or information... I needed information about and author today, and it was at the tip of her tongue, when I called and asked. They have book signings (in these times outdoors, with masks and spacings) and in better times, interesting lectures. I love all of our bookstores, but in these times, summer of 2020, I feel safe in Left Bank Books. Their care with hand sanitizer, and requiring masks, and limited customers,... Well, I could go on forever. I could wish...for my pocketbook, that they weren't just a short walk away. My feet just cannot help turning in when I walk down that street. You ask, below, when did I go? Odd question. They are around the corner, I go ALL THE TIME!!! You ask , is it good for couples? Odd, again. If you and your spouse/friend love books and history, or need to know abut travel or need a gift, yes, it's good for couples.

Conklin's Maine Mercantile

My husband and I purchased a Dory Boat Basket here during our visit to Camden last week. Garry could not have been nicer. He is clearly passionate about the products he sells. He was knowledgeable and friendly and shared many stories about the crafters of the products in his shop. It was lovely to speak with him and to support a business that supports the makers of fine products made in the USA. We also appreciated the fact that Garry takes the health and safety of his staff and customers very seriously. Thanks Garry!
