The 10 Best Things to Do in Bekasi, Indonesia

September 11, 2017 Deane Carmody

Bekasi City (Indonesian: Kota Bekasi, Sundanese: ᮊᮥᮒ ᮘᮨᮊᮞᮤ, Chinese: 勿加泗市) is a city in West Java, Indonesia, located on the eastern border of Jakarta within the Jakarta metropolitan region. It serves as a commuter city for Jakarta, although it has notable trade, business and processing industries. The borders for this city are Bekasi Regency at the north and east, Bogor Regency and Depok City at the south, as well as East Jakarta at the west. It is Indonesia's most populated incorporated suburban city to Jakarta, and one of the most populated worldwide, but still trails the likes of Incheon and Yokohama. The large number of multinational companies, has apparently attracted a lot of expatriates (mainly Japanese and Korean) to settle in Bekasi.

Excellent shopping mall with all the facilities a usual mall has but this has a little extra. Fashion, entertainment, food courts, play areas for kids, outside dining options, outside Gardens and fishponds.
Love this mall and the outside areas of it. The fish feeding at certain times are great for kids and adults alike. Everyone isngiven small containers of fish food to throw to the fish.
The outside dining and entertainment areas are great..lots of variety to chose from and the stage area puts on different bands on different days/nights

This mal rather small compared to another mall, but it is complete enough for your need. It has cinema, supermarket, department store, and restaurants. The mall is clean and not so crowd, so it is fun to shopping here. Their food court is very comfy with lots of seats and there is outdoor part too where restaurants are located.

I would easily recommend going to the Water Park at Taman Mini, or the Waterbom in Lippo Cikarang, before this one as they are about the same price but much more fun. Some of the disappointments:
-very hot, with little shade = we all got bad sunburn!
-slides are less intense than the other parks
-slides have height minimums, which are not very enforced, but weight maximums which are. I saw many people being asked how much they weigh and turned back at the stairs - with the maximum weight per person being 65 for 2 slides, 70 and 80 for the other two slides.
-the whole ground is very slippery when wet. I don't understand why they made such a poor choice for the stones when building the place, or why they don't put rubber mats across the park.
-you have to pay for some of the rides, as if admission wasn't already high enough, plus renting the tubes, overpriced bad food, renting lockers, and a total rip-off of having to rent a place to sit, and only for a few hours.
-advertising claims that there are 23 different rides, and that it's the biggest park in the Jakarta area. It really didn't feel that way, they must be including every little sub-feature of the kiddie pool and the pay-per-use rides.

Bekasi City Park

Reviewed By rlahuddin - Jakarta, Indonesia

many years ago, i would categorized this place as "very terrible". dark, urin odour everywhere, and full of prostitute (funny, because this place is located in front of grand mosque of bekasi).
but things a little bit change now. government made some progress, but i think this park can be better. some of the trees in this place just like a random tree. so it is more like a "city jungle" than a "city park".
