On my sister and my trip to Iceland (both in our 50's) we both made a list of the top things each of us wanted to do. The top of my list was ride an Icelandic horse. While it was low on my sister's list because she hasn't ridden on many horses ever, she agreed to go along. I picked Galsi because of the great reviews and what seemed like the best value...I didn't go wrong!! It was excellent. The horses were very well trained and you could tell very well cared for. Our guide Karen was amazing!! I had done a fair amount of riding before, but only in a Western saddle and my sister had only ride a handful of times in her life. Karen managed to accommodate both of our needs and expectations and was just a joy to be with. She let us through pastures, up and down some hills, and over to scenic bluffs overlooking the city and the ocean. Upon leaving we were also greeted by the owner who wanted to make sure we were satisfied and thanked us for coming. I would definitely recommend taking the ride to Blonduos to ride Icelandic horses. The drive is beautiful, away from the city of Reykjavik and the people and horses at Galsi are amazing!

We did a fantastic horse ride with Antonia for 2 hours. We were a group of no to little experienced riders. Nevertheless we felt very comfortable and secure throughout the ride due to the good guidance we got. It took probably a lot of effort to keep an eye on us, but we also did have a nice chat and were taught some basics of riding. The ride itself was through a wonderful landscape with fields and rivers, which we crossed. Totally recommendable!

The museum was closed when we stopped, but fortunately we could still walk around the grounds and see the building from the outside. It's right off the highway, so it is definitely worth a stop to see.

This campsite is one of my favorite places in Iceland!! It's got views like no other and the people that work there are so friendly. The kitchen is spacious and warm, there are two different bathroom areas, and a wonderful thermal bath. If you're looking for a good shower then this isn't the place but I rinsed off in the shower head outside by the thermal bath and that was good enough for me! Not only do I love the views here but this place also sells affordable food and beer in their cafe, which is adorable, AND while my friends and I were in the thermal bath at midnight and then tent camping and setting up for bed around 1 am we saw the Northern Lights both times (this was in mid August). It was AMAZING. The thermal bath is really really warm and you can hear the ocean waves while bathing in it. The beach nearby is a gorgeous walk and one of the coolest beaches I've been on with a really awesome swing right on the black sand to enjoy. GREAT PLACE!
