Bahia Inglesa

A nice day trip from copiapo with the beach and restaurants right on the promenade. Very quiet in low season but imagine that at the height of summer it can get crazy. Easy to get to from copiapo by bus (every 30 minutes to Caldera) and then shared collectivo to the bay (5800 return trip). Water was surprisingly pleasant to swim in, but there was a lot of wind too so be prepared for a cold water exit!

Chile is not particularly known for having white sand beaches, but Playa La Virgen is an exception! It is a unique place, an small cove, with beautiful colours and unique landscape, where the desert and the Pacific ocean met. If I was going to spend my summer holidays at a beach in Chile again, no doubt I will come back here over and over and over
