Cathedrale Notre Dame de Evreux

This is a really lovely Cathedral with amazing ironwork and a new organ all in a setting with misericords and beautiful stonework. Considering how much damage it took in WW2 it is a must see, and right next door to a gem of a museum and art gallery housed in the Bishop's Palace with a car park right behind both . Well worth a visit.

We visited these gardens in Ocober, and I was was not sure if we were going to be able experience the beauty of the gardens that I had read about. Despite the time of year, there were many beautiful flowers. Monet designed the-gardent to be beautiful year round. There were only a few waterlilies in bloom, but the flowers surrounding the pond provided a perfect "frame" for my many photos. I would like to return each season to experience this artists living picture!

The village of Bec - Hellouin is a gem and rightly vaunted as one of France's prettiest. We arrived and were luckily able to park near the abbey in what is a relatively small car park. There was no charge and one was almost immediately struck by the peace and calm that enveloped the whole situation. Through the main gates was the separated bell tower, a building with a small shop and a small walk away the church, which was the epitomy of simplicity. It pervaded a calmness and a quiet that was perversely so tangible. A truly lovely place and one can well understand why it is a practicing monastery. The shop contains a variety of products from a number of monasteries including jams, wines etc some ceramics made at the abbey, books and a good selection of cd's and proved an excellent way to make a contribution.

Chateau de Beaumesnil

Very quiet, serene and charming place. It literally offers you to stay alone with the history and feel the old spirit. It is a good place for family/couple visits. Caramel cookings and children workshops are a nice (and tasty!) adding to the visit. It's very important to come in the right moment with good weather (not always in Normandy) to enjoy the gardens and the park. In that case, this place is worth to spend in the whole day.

Worth seeing if you're making a stop to tour Monet's house. Interesting monument to WWII British bomber crew whose plane crashed nearby. You can enter the chuch from a side entrance. Very interesting ancient interior. Monet's remains are interered outside torwards the back of the church (near the WWII monument).
