Meadow Garden

Meadow Garden is one of Georgia’s oldest dwellings. This national historic landmark is a quiet and inviting oasis in the midst of the industrialized city of Augusta, Georgia. Meadow Garden was the home of George Walton, one of the youngest signers of the Declaration of Independence. Come and visit this beautiful treasure! Guided tours are available Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00AM to 4:00. The home features 18th and 19th Century American and English furnishings, porcelains, paintings and primitive household equipment.

There is alot of restoration being done at Meadow Garden at this time. While this might be considered a problem with some places, it remains an eye opening experience for this historic home. Examples of the restorations of the past, the expansion of the home, and the original inner workings are revealed due to the restoration project. It also gives a ton of new information that is being discovered (Some only weeks old.) I recommend this location to anyone even during it's restoration and will return when it has been restored even more to see what new secrets might have been revealed. The tour guide was a treat to spend time with, and even though the house isn't too large you can spend quite a bit of time. I enjoyed myself fully.

Masters

Nothing quite feels like the opening of the spring season like when the worlds top professional golfers head to the prestigious Augusta National Golf Club to compete in the Masters Tournament. As an attendee to the annual event you can watch these athletes compete against one another on arguably the most beautifully designed yet challenging gold courses in the world. If you want to be a spectator, tickets are extremely difficult to find, however you may have more luck trying to get into the events practice rounds, which require you to enter a lottery nearly a year before the event is actually held.

As a local! I found the negative reviews more of a review of Augusta not the National! It is “like Oz” bc it’s hidden behind giant green walls... on the other side everything is in “color”! Yes it sucks you can’t just walk up and take pictures but, if you could it wouldn’t be so special! There is one small sign in the front they allow pictures to be taken in front of but that’s all! Don’t try to get in you will be arrested! Just don’t waste your gas or a plane ticket thinking you can walk up into a pro shop because that’s just not how it works! Chillax people! If you get the opportunity to go and enjoy it... do it... but, only during an actual tournament!

Pexcho's American Dime Museum

My two sons (8 and 10) and I were passing through Augusta on Easter Sunday. We stopped by not fully expecting the museum to be open. The owner was just about to paint his floors but let us in anyway. I am so happy he did. It was awesome! It was the perfect amount of history for me and weird wild stuff for my kids. We all came away learning the history of American entertainment and it was the most unique experience of our week long trip. We are all still talking about it, remembering the stories and strange things we saw. The exterior does not look like a normal museum so you may walk up to it a little unsure but once you experience it you will love everything about it. We absolutely loved this experience. I wear my Pexcho's T-shirt with pride and hope someone will ask me about it.
