Modric Cave

Not exaggerating when I say this was one of the best things we spent our money on while in Croatia. The cave itself is full to the brim of exciting formations, and Marijan (the guide) is full to the brim with knowledge about it! We learned so much between jokes and laughs on the tour, I absolutely recommend.

Veliki Slap

There are three good ways to view the Veliki Slap (also known as The Big Waterfall on the park maps). The view from the top at Ulz Entrance 1 gives the full impression from high across the canyon; the view from the bottom of the falls requires a hike down and across, usually wending around lots of people; and the view from above at the top on the side of P3. Each provides a different appreciation. Earlier and later in the day, when the tour groups have not yet shown up or have disappeared might create a better sense.

Plitvice Lakes National Park

The Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest and largest national park in the Republic of Croatia, famous for its numerous turquoise-coloured lakes separated by tufa, or travertine, barriers. Its karst landscape is characterised by specific hydrological traits and exceptional biological diversity, which helped the National Park gain international significance. Magical lakes and waterfalls in Croatia, it was utterly mesmerising, the vivid colours and raw nature walk through the park. We were overwhelmed by the crystal clear waters and exceptionally well maintained park. They have well planned walks for everyone, from a nice relaxed trek from 2 hours to a more expert level of all day. We opted for the 2-3 hour walk and it was perfect to enjoy the wonderful park, a short boat ride and leisurely stroll with magnificent views of the magical lakes and waterfalls. Once you are finished there is a shuttle bus waiting to return you back to the entrance, where you have a short walk back to the carpark. We chose 'Program E' for Easy:-) It starts at the southern entrance to the Park (“Entrance 2”). The tour is circular and includes the area of "Upper Lakes". The program includes a short boat ride across Lake "Kozjak" followed by a walk upstream all the way to Prošćansko Lake. Return to the starting point is by panoramic train. Experience the idyllic beauty of the peaceful and spacious "Upper Lakes" with wooded shores and their most attractive waterfalls "Veliki" and "Mali prštavcima" as well as many smaller waterfalls.

Zeleni Vir

The attraction in question is a hiking trail SW of the town of Skrad in the county of "Gorski Kotar", Republic of Croatia."Zeleni Vir" translates into "Green Whirlpool", a name drawn from the local stream. The hiking trail leads through a gorge, by some impressive cliffs, a mountain stream and a small local hydropower plant. There's also a cavern close by.

Zeleni vir is a hidden jam in the hart of Croatia - in the rural part called Gorski kotar. If you need a rest from buildings and all the stress you must come. I recommend the path through "Ložac", and when coming to the Zeleni vir, you have to visit the waterfall Zeleni vir on the one side and the canyon called the Devil Passage ob the other side. You can also rent electrical bikes in the town near Zeleni vir called Skrad. Enjoy :)

This brand new Cable car provide good facilities at the top including a cafe, souvenirs shop. There is also Panorama Restaurant to relax. The ramparts of erstwhile Fort Imperial, an unusual Museum of Homelands War should not be missed. It's advisable to reach at as early as possible in the morning to avoid waiting in the queue, also to spend time leisurely enjoying fresh breeze, stunning views of Old Town, expansive coastline and distant mountains.

It took 45min to walk up from Pile gate to the top of the Mount Srd..prepare yourself good walking shoes, comfortable long pants and sweater (there are some spiky plants or branches) You can follow the map first but just use your instincts you can get up faster by climbing up!! Getting down was bit easier! So if you're in good condition, you save money and you don't have to use the cable car!
