Highbury Theatre

Reviewed By paulsM3180PC - Tamworth, United Kingdom

My wife and I visit the Highbury Theatre at least a couple of times a year - generally to see a performance by the "From the Top Theatre Group" (affectionately known as "Toppers"!). The building itself has a history dating back to the late 1930's / early 1940's (and was built by the Highbury Theatre members themselves!) - and having worked behind the scenes on some of the shows over the years - the back stage and rafters are genuinely very interesting (and very dusty!). If ever you get chance to take a look it's an impressive feat with all of the rope work for the lighting and scenery drapes! As an audience member, the seats are pretty comfortable and there is enough space to seat 100+ for each performance - and with the clever use of sound and lighting - it's easy to be absorbed into the stage performances and forget the surroundings. There's a bar (where you can pre-order drinks for the interval and is run by a friendly team) and the usual toilet facilities - and the whole place is accessible to all with plenty of wheelchair access if required, although parking is at a premium in the area so try and arrive early! More should be done to support local theatres when they are this good - and I would hope the theatre will continue to be as successful as it is and enjoyed by the local community - and if you do get chance to catch a performance by the "From the Top" team - you are in for a treat!

There is no simpler way to treat yourself than at The Bannatyne Spa. Great Facilities Our spacious therapy rooms provide a calm and relaxing environment

We got gifted a spa day at this Bannatyne’s and considering it wasn’t one of the ‘exclusive’ choices Bannatyne’s offer, we were pleasantly surprised. The lady on reception, Debbie, was super helpful and couldn’t do enough for us so was a great start. The overall facilities were great and very clean considering this is also a gym. The saunas and steam room were also in great condition and although one of the steam rooms wasn’t working, there was still plenty of room in the one that was working. The treatments we had were as we expected and had no issues and felt very relaxed at the end of the spa day. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a local spa choice.
