The Earl Grey Inn

Reviewed By WinstonB74 - Leek, United Kingdom

Situated just up Ashbourne Road and well worth the less than 5 minute walk from Leek town centre. A seemingly permanent fixture in the Good Beer Guide and justifiably so. Excellent range of beers, a warm and friendly welcome, and a very pleasant pub interior with a great atmosphere. Very well done to the guys that own/run this place.

This is an exceptional experience. The staff completely understand, that when you walk in and see the array of chocolates, you are probably going to be overwhelmed for choice and are patient and extremely friendly and helpful! The smell of chocolate is amazing and you can see the open kitchen to the right, where they concoct their amazing tastes and designs!!!! Beautifully presented and incredible works of art.... absolutely delicious, with no artificial flavours! The hot chocolate is perfection and I have a small cup, but it is not sickly sweet and does not sit on your stomach! It is divine, with Bailey’s, as they have an alcohol licence in the shop! Whilst we were in the shop. Another customer came back in and asked for another one! I don’t blame him!! This little gem, needs to be shouted about all over Staffordshire. At Christmas time, it is like a Dickensian shop of treasures. Fabulous!!!!

Stu and team run a fantastic setup. The bikes are in tip-top condition, more snacks than you ever need and a really great, tasty, hot lunch. We learned so much from the team’s excellent instruction. At the start of the day, Stu said we’d be doing stuff by the end of the day that, at the start, we wouldn’t have thought possible; he was right and it’s all down to the team’s excellent tuition. If you can cope with a bit of banter being thrown at you, you’ll have an amazing day where you (personally speaking!) come away knackered but with a massive grin.

The Nicholson Museum & Art Gallery

Reviewed By bryanmg141 - Oldbury, United Kingdom

We're actually from the West Midlands, and sometimes forget that our area used to be in Staffordshire (even though we pay South Staffs for our Water!), so it came as a surprise to see our local places such as West Bromwich and Smethwick getting a mention in the tapestry display, which is an excellent way of showing the history of the county. It also helps that it's in a very nice building, giving an even better atmosphere. And if that isn't enough - it's free entry!
