The 10 Best Things to do Good for a Rainy Day in Fareham, England

October 26, 2021 Kelli Reichel

Fareham (/ˈfɛərəm/ FAIR-əm) is a market town at the north-west tip of Portsmouth Harbour, between the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton in the south east of Hampshire, England. It gives its name to the borough that comprises the town and its surrounding area. It was historically an important manufacturer of bricks (notably used to build the Royal Albert Hall, London) and a grower of strawberries. Current employment includes retail (including Fareham Shopping Centre with around 100 shops), small-scale manufacturing, and defence (with the Royal Navy's HMS Collingwood and the Ministry of Defence's Defence Science and Technology Laboratory nearby).

My daughter bought this ‘experience’ as a Christmas gift. Something I wanted to do but was a little hesitant as I had had no previous experience. I needn’t have worried. A small group of 5 being taught by Kelly who demonstrated every facet involved in making these gorgeous yummy delights. It was a lovely thing to do - not as hard as it may seem- and we made and filled (with reasonable success I might add) enough macarons to be able to try 5 different types each and even enough to take a box home too. Would thoroughly recommend this to others.

We visited rock up whilst on holiday from the Isle of Wight The kids 7,9 and 15 all were excited to try the different walls! Staff were absolutely brilliant, extremely friendly and helpful. We booked in advance with no problems online. We did arrive too early as online says 30 minutes beforehand but due to covid they now ask you to come for booked time. Not a problem as there were plenty shops to visit- something for all ages. Free parking too! Although we went over (think it’s 4 hours free!) but only had to pay £2 for the whole day. Adults can also climb but neither of us had booked. Definitely will next time! Would highly recommend ROCK UP

I took my 10 year old daughter along today to a taster session and wasn’t sure what to expect. We were greeted when we arrived by our instructor, provided with shoes and taken to an area for instruction. The facilities are great and they have geared up for COVID with sanitisers in place and a one way system in operation. It all felt very structured. Our instructor was fantastic with my daughter and she helped boost her confidence and get her climbing and pushing her limits. Lots of positivity and encouragement. Really cannot fault the experience at all, everything explained to us, with passion and enthusiasm. All I heard in the car on the way home was “When are we going back?”, on this climb I did this hold, I loved this route, I did this... etc... Brilliant!
