Orbas Reindeer Farm

Hey you traveller! We’re a local reindeer herder family from Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland. With us, you’ll get to know the tradition of Lappish reindeer herding culture at our family farm. Reindeer herding is our lifestyle, and with us you’ll experience traditional, calm, but simultaniously modern reindeer herding culture. Our farm is located in a remote location at the furthermost corner of Rovaniemi, far beyond the street lights and the facilities of modern lifestyle.

Reviewed By TrudyG181 - Rotterdam, The Netherlands

We visited the family and they were willing to share their lives with us for one day. We have looked at and fed the herd of reindeer as they do every day. Weroasted sausages and drank hot drinks in the snow while sitting on reindeer skins. And we ended the tour sitting in the kitchen, eating a traditional meal while enjoying each other's company. We look back on a fantastic day.

Sea Fortress Suomenlinna

Reviewed By M6281VPmarks - Scottsdale, United States

Must visit this UNESCO world heritage site of a fortress in Helsinki south harbor across several islands which was built by the Swedes in the 18th and 19th centuries to unsuccessfully prevent Russia from capturing Finland. It is a remarkable piece of engineering, architecture and history. Visit the several museums on the connected islands. There are also fortifications, barracks, residences (people live there full time), church, workshops, shops, cafes and restaurants. You will need at least half a day to visit and will take a 15 minute scenic ferry ride starting at Market Square but the ferry convenienty runs all day starting very early and ending late in the evening because people live there. Children who are into forts and guns will enjoy. Younger children will have the chance to run around to their hearts content.

The Esplanadi Park

The very heart of central Helsinki and a very evocative park it is. I live nearby and often pass through it on my way to the shops, or just walk down it when the weather is good. Very clean, well manicured, with lots of benches as well as frequent free musical exhibitions on the covered stage at one end.

Sensational ice sculptures! Excellent work of art with so many different character rooms. Ice slide was great fun! Ice bar is also worth a visit for a hot chocolate, hot berry juice or something stronger in an ice glass. Lots of photo opportunities. Well worth a visit at €16 each. We spent just over an hour here. Highly Recommended!

Turku Cathedral

We needed an easy place to visit near the city centre and this church is just few hundred meters from the centre. There was a nice park next to the church also. The church itself is beautiful both inside and outside. Inside there is a lot to see.
